Job description

At PayFuture, we help businesses move money across emerging and high-growth markets in Asia, MENA and other regions. As we expand our enterprise offering, the reliability and scalability of our payments infrastructure become increasingly critical.

The Senior Product Manager will own the capabilities that power these payment flows across markets. You will work across payment rails, providers, corridors and internal platform capabilities to make payments more reliable, predictable and scalable. This is a hands‑on product leadership role for someone who understands payments deeply, is comfortable operating across markets, and can translate complex payment mechanics into clear product requirements and measurable outcomes.

How We'll Measure You

Success in this role will be measured through measurable improvements in payment infrastructure and customer outcomes, including:

  • Corridor success rate and STP rate — continuous improvement quarter over quarter.

  • Payment failure rate — reduction in failures attributable to platform, integration or routing decisions.

  • Settlement and reconciliation performance — reduction in settlement failures, reconciliation breaks and outstanding exceptions.

  • Payment processing TAT — improvement in speed and predictability across priority corridors.

  • Provider reliability — improved performance, availability and resilience across critical payment providers.

  • Integration delivery — delivery of strategic provider and corridor integrations against committed timelines.

  • Enterprise readiness — improved reliability, capabilities and integration experience for strategic enterprise customers.

  • Operational efficiency — reduction in manual intervention and recurring operational issues through automation and platform improvements.

  • Platform scalability — increased ability to launch and support new corridors and providers without proportional increases in operational complexity.

Responsibilities

Payment Reliability & Performance

  • Define what good looks like for payment performance across corridors, including success rate, STP, processing TAT, settlement success and failure rates.

  • Establish performance targets and drive continuous improvement against them.

  • Identify systemic failure patterns across providers, payment rails and platform components and drive root‑cause resolution.

  • Build mechanisms for proactive monitoring, reconciliation and issue detection so that problems are identified before they materially impact customers.

  • Own the product response to recurring payment failures and ensure learnings are converted into platform improvements.

  • Own the product design of payment corridors across Asia, MENA and other strategic markets.

  • Understand the mechanics of each market — payment rails, provider capabilities, settlement windows, return codes, regulatory requirements and operational processes.

  • Translate market requirements into clear product specifications covering payment initiation, status handling, failures, reconciliation and settlement.

  • Define corridor readiness and go‑live requirements and ensure new corridors can be launched reliably and scaled sustainably.

  • Continuously evaluate corridor performance and identify opportunities to improve coverage, reliability, cost and customer experience.

  • Define standards for integrating with payment gateways, banks, local payment networks and other payment providers.

  • Evaluate potential providers based on coverage, reliability, economics, technical capability, scalability and operational performance.

  • Prioritise integrations based on customer and business impact rather than integration volume.

  • Partner closely with Engineering and external providers to drive integrations from requirements through production and stabilization.

  • Establish consistent expectations for API behaviour, error handling, status mapping, reconciliation and operational support across integrations.

Resilience & Failure Management

  • Design payment infrastructure for failure, including provider redundancy, routing, failover and degraded operating modes.

  • Reduce dependency on individual payment providers and ensure that failures in one rail do not unnecessarily impact customers.

  • Define requirements for intelligent routing and provider selection based on performance, availability, cost and transaction characteristics.

  • Improve automated reconciliation and exception handling to reduce manual operational intervention.

  • Drive platform‑level improvements that reduce recurring payment failures across multiple corridors and customers.

Enterprise Payment Capabilities

  • Partner with Commercial, Engineering and Operations to translate enterprise customer requirements into scalable platform capabilities.

  • Build capabilities that allow PayFuture to provide consistent payment experiences across different markets and providers.

  • Simplify APIs, status and error experiences to reduce enterprise integration complexity and improve time‑to‑market.

  • Ensure customer commitments are supported by clear platform capabilities, realistic delivery plans and measurable reliability standards.

  • Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to improve payment routing, anomaly detection, reconciliation and failure management.

  • Explore intelligent systems that can identify degradation, recommend or automatically change routing, and resolve operational exceptions with minimal human intervention.

  • Work with Engineering and Data teams to define practical AI‑driven capabilities that improve payment reliability and operational efficiency.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of product management experience, with significant experience in payments, fintech or financial infrastructure.

  • Strong understanding of payment mechanics including settlement, reconciliation, payment statuses, return codes, failure handling and provider integrations.

  • Experience working with multiple payment rails, providers and markets.

  • Experience with real‑time or near‑real‑time payment rails such as UPI, Pix, RTP, SEPA or equivalent local payment networks is a strong plus.

  • Experience owning payment reliability metrics such as success rate, STP, TAT, settlement success and failure rates.

  • Comfortable working across product, engineering, operations, commercial teams and external payment providers.

  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to move from a payment symptom to the underlying platform or process root cause.

  • Opinionated and outcome‑oriented. You form a point of view, articulate trade‑offs and drive decisions rather than waiting for requirements to be handed to you.

  • Able to challenge Engineering constructively on technical and product trade‑offs while maintaining strong cross‑functional relationships.

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building structure where processes and systems are still evolving.

  • Customer‑focused, with a strong understanding that the objective of payment infrastructure is ultimately a successful, predictable transaction for the customer.
