Job summary

McDermott is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist in the UAE (Dubai) to strengthen the procurement discipline within the Project Management Team. You will act as a seasoned resource, leading procurement strategy and ensuring contract requirements are integrated to minimize exposure while meeting client milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent with 6 years of relevant experience
• 6–10 years of relevant procurement experience
• Professional procurement qualification preferred
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
• Capable of managing multiple high‑volume procurement packages on tight timelines
• Resource for less experienced colleagues
• Apply knowledge to standard and nonstandard situations
• Interpret customer needs and identify solutions to nonstandard requests
• Use best practices to improve procurement processes
• Monitor and control costs within own work
• Solve moderately complex problems and propose new approaches
• Manage own time to meet targets and plan short‑term activities
• Promote teamwork and coach others
• Knowledge of SP MAT or Oracle preferred

Responsibilities

• Hold responsibility for the Supply Chain function within the Project Management Team
• Collaborate with stakeholders on development and implementation of project requirements and interface with client and vendors
• Lead procurement strategy within the Project Management Team and negotiate project flow-down conditions
• Develop a Project Procurement execution plan including purchasing, expediting, logistics, and communications
• Ensure client needs are identified and addressed as a single point of contact for supply chain
• Ensure timely corrective actions and resolution of issues
• Participate in resolving disputes, claims, and performance issues
• Provide status reporting and representation in project team meetings
• Maintain auditable procurement files and project filing procedures
• Adhere to project schedule requirements
• Oversee project supply chain management activities
• Ensure deliverables meet internal and external customer requirements
• Interface with peers to improve performance
• Lead project reviews and transfer lessons learned
• Maintain appropriate approval cycles
• Manage procurement packages including budget, costs, payments, and change orders
• Address vendor disputes with SPS, PMT, Legal
• Provide independent advice to the Project Management Team and SCM Reporting Manager
