Job summary

Duncan & Ross is seeking a Senior Process Designer in Abu Dhabi for large-scale oil & gas or petrochemical projects. You will prepare PFDs and P&IDs, generate line/equipment lists, and support FEED and Detailed Engineering with international standards in focus.

The role requires a Diploma/Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD and SmartPlant P&ID. Team collaboration and strong quality control are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Chemical / Process Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
• 10 years of experience in process design and drafting within oil & gas, petrochemical or energy sectors.
• Strong expertise in developing PFDs P&IDs and other process documents using AutoCAD SmartPlant P&ID or similar tools.
• Good understanding of process equipment (pumps, compressors, separators, heat exchangers) and process control concepts.
• Familiarity with API ASME IEC ISO codes and standards.
• Experience on FEED and Detailed Engineering projects.
• Exposure to ADNOC or other major Middle Eastern clients is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop P&IDs and PFDs based on process engineer input and project standards.
• Generate and update line lists, equipment lists and process datasheets with process engineers.
• Assist in developing Cause & Effect diagrams, hydraulic schematics and other key deliverables.
• Ensure design deliverables meet client specs and international standards (API, ASME, ISO).
• Coordinate with Piping, Instrumentation, Electrical and Civil disciplines for integration.
• Maintain quality and consistency of design deliverables across FEED and Detailed Design phases.
• Perform design checks and reviews for accuracy and completeness.
• Support process engineers in safety studies (HAZOP, SIL) through diagrams.
• Participate in model reviews and incorporate design changes.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafters.

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Process Designer with strong expertise in process design and drafting for large-scale oil & gas or petrochemical projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed process design drawings and documentation supporting FEED and Detailed Engineering phases and ensuring compliance with project specifications and international standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and develop Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) based on process engineer input and project standards.
• Generate and update line lists equipment lists and process datasheets in collaboration with process engineers.
• Assist in the development of Cause & Effect diagrams Hydraulic Schematics Process Safeguarding Diagrams and other key deliverables.
• Ensure design deliverables meet client specifications project requirements and applicable international standards (API ASME ISO etc.).
• Coordinate with other design disciplines (Piping Instrumentation Electrical Civil) to ensure effective process integration.
• Maintain quality and consistency of design deliverables across all phases of the project (FEED Detailed Design).
