Job description
Overview

Develop, coordinate and control the wells analyses and evaluation of petrophysical data necessary to make decisions on placement of wells and completions in shale and tight gas reservoirs. Proposes petrophysical studies to assist in the formulation of appropriate exploration, appraisal & development strategies and programs. Coordinate and integrate all available sources, including drilling operations, wireline logs, cores, seismic and specialized studies / research to produce integrated models of unconventional wells in the subsurface. Provide the petrophysical input for development of field development plans and work programs that ensure the delivery of sustainable production and injection rates of the assigned reservoirs in the field at optimal technical and economic conditions.

Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 1)
  • Conduct activities pertaining to the petrophysical property characterization using a combination of data sources, including well logs, cores, remote sensing surveys and geologic analogues.
  • Coordinate and carry out the interpretation, evaluation of petrophysical data to determine presence, quality and type of hydrocarbons, fluid contacts, rock matrix constituents and properties. Reviews analytical reports and evaluations relative to petrophysical well data conducted by non-petrophysical staff and consultants, and queries anomalies or non-standard parameters or methodology.
  • Integrate all data sets into consistent, verifiable petrophysical models of wells and stratigraphic intervals for incorporation into static and dynamic reservoir models for volumetric prediction and exploration, appraisal & development planning.
  • Propose, justify and assess the Value–of-Information pertaining to the petrophysical data, prepares and quality control cost-effective logging, coring and core analysis programs and ensures best working practices and state-of-the-art techniques are applied.
Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 2)
  • Facilitate, execute, and control quality of petrophysical data processing to ensure that data are correctly processed and presented in a suitable format by contractor companies for in-house interpretation.
  • Coordinate and participate in formulating petrophysical contributions to exploration, appraisal, and development phases. Reviews and integrates petrophysical input required for generation of reports, plots, graphs and data listings used in geological maps and reservoir models.
  • Liaise with Upstream Information Management department as required in assisting with the establishment and maintenance of archives for all petrophysical data (logs and cores) for assigned field / concession area. This includes storage and indexing of paper prints, films, magnetic tapes and computer files used for storage and manipulation of petrophysical data.
  • Keep abreast of unconventional plays technological developments, inventions and techniques in Petrophysical engineering through trade journals, liaising with outside agencies and consultants, attending appropriate seminars and membership of relevant societies and institutions. Identifies and evaluates potential application, recommends their testing and introduction when justified, and liaises with other sections and departments to ensure their timely, economical and successful implementation.
  • Participate in the ongoing training and development of assigned UAE national employees and other new graduate staff. Includes assessing employees training and development needs, preparing structured development / familiarization programs, monitoring and reporting on progress and counselling employees, as required.

  • Provide inputs for regular management reports such as the department weekly, daily exploration / appraisal well drilling reports; monthly exploration / appraisal drilling overview and maps, etc.

  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
Reports
  • Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.
Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent discipline with minor or advanced courses in petrophysics, applied physics or math.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills

8 years of varied experience in geo-sciences, drilling, reservoir and petroleum engineering.

Work Conditions
  • Work Environment : A / C environment, could be exposed to the prevailing weather conditions like heat, humidity and dust during occasional site visits.
