Job summary

Jex Recruitment seeks a Senior Research Scientist in machine learning to lead development of advanced models for financial behaviour in the UAE. You will work with large-scale behavioural data, applying sequence modelling and representation learning to credit risk, repayment prediction, segmentation, fraud detection and early-warning signals.

You will mentor other researchers, collaborate with data, product, risk and engineering teams, and push frontier techniques into real-world applications,

Qualifications

• Experience with sequential, event-level or time-series data.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Hands-on experience with transformers, representation learning, autoregressive or masked modelling.
• Proven experience pretraining and fine-tuning sequence models.
• Experience with large-scale data platforms such as PySpark, Databricks, Snowflake or BigQuery.
• Experience working with complex, real-world datasets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction of research and modelling projects.
• Design, pre-train and fine-tune sequence and representation-learning models.
• Work with transaction, repayment, behavioural and customer data.
• Develop reusable customer representations across multiple markets and use cases.
• Take models from research through to production and monitor performance.
• Keep up with frontier research and adapt new techniques to real-world problems.
• Collaborate with data, product, risk and engineering teams.
• Mentor other scientists and raise the technical standard of the team.
