Overview of the Role
The Senior MEP Manager will establish and manage the MEP delivery strategy while coordinating closely with the Project Director, consultants, contractors, specialist teams, and regulatory authorities. The position carries responsibility for design integration, construction oversight, authority approvals, sustainability, specialist systems, procurement support, commissioning, and technical risk management. Particular attention will be given to ensuring MEP systems support the project 's operational requirements and overall design vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead MEP activities from concept and design development through construction, commissioning, and final handover.
- Establish and maintain the overall MEP delivery strategy.
- Provide technical leadership to project teams, consultants, contractors, and specialist parties.
- Integrate MEP requirements with wider project requirements from the early development stages.
- Identify and mitigate technical, programme, cost, and interface risks.
- Advise senior project leadership on significant MEP matters.
Design Management and Coordination
- Review MEP designs for compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and public health systems with architectural and other project disciplines.
- Review design submissions, engineering calculations, and technical documentation.
- Ensure proposed systems are practical and aligned with project requirements.
- Support value engineering and technical optimization.
- Manage the integration of MEP systems within the overall project design.
Construction and Project Delivery
- Provide technical oversight of MEP construction activities.
- Monitor contractor performance and compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate MEP works with other construction disciplines.
- Review construction methodologies and technical submissions.
- Monitor installation quality and compliance with relevant standards.
- Resolve technical issues and interface risks affecting construction progress.
Authorities and Regulatory Approvals
- Coordinate MEP requirements, submissions, inspections, and approvals with relevant authorities.
- Maintain effective working relationships with Dubai and UAE authorities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable UAE and international regulations.
- Coordinate responses to authority comments and support timely resolution of approval matters.
Fire and Life Safety
- Coordinate fire protection, fire alarm, and emergency systems with the wider MEP design.
- Ensure alignment with the approved fire strategy and Civil Defense requirements.
- Coordinate testing and approval activities for fire and life safety systems.
- Address Civil Defense comments and technical requirements promptly.
Sustainability and Energy Performance
- Lead the MEP contribution to project sustainability objectives and LEED requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve energy and water efficiency.
- Review major building systems from an energy and sustainability perspective.
- Coordinate sustainable engineering solutions across the project and wider district.
- Evaluate opportunities involving renewable energy and smart technologies.
Museum and Specialist Systems
- Provide MEP leadership for museum and cultural building requirements.
- Manage environmental requirements associated with exhibition spaces.
- Coordinate technical requirements with curators and specialist consultants.
- Ensure specialist systems are effectively integrated with building services and infrastructure.
HVAC and Environmental Control
- Provide technical oversight of HVAC and cooling systems.
- Confirm that cooling capacity supports project requirements.
- Coordinate HVAC systems with architectural and exhibition requirements.
- Support system resilience and maintainability for critical spaces.
Procurement and Contract Management
- Provide MEP input into procurement strategies.
- Review the MEP elements of contractor proposals.
- Support evaluation of MEP scope, variations, and project changes.
- Define MEP responsibilities and scope requirements within contracts.
- Manage coordination with specialist MEP subcontractors.
Testing, Commissioning and Handover
- Lead the MEP testing, commissioning, and handover strategy.
- Integrate commissioning requirements into overall project planning.
- Review commissioning plans, procedures, and technical requirements.
- Coordinate integrated systems testing.
- Oversee preparation of operation and maintenance manuals and required asset information.
Risk, Quality and Programme Management
- Manage MEP risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
- Maintain the MEP risk and opportunity register.
- Support project programme management and delay mitigation.
- Monitor the quality and compliance of MEP works.
- Track procurement and delivery requirements for major MEP equipment.

What Qualifies You for the Role
- Bachelor 's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 20 years of relevant experience across major building and infrastructure projects.
- Museum project experience is preferred.
- Experience managing MEP delivery for large-scale and technically complex projects.
- Strong understanding of UAE regulations.
- Knowledge of applicable energy efficiency requirements.
