Job summary

NMC Group's NMC Specialty Hospital, Abu Dhabi, is seeking an experienced Medical Coding Specialist to ensure accurate ICD-9-CM, CPT, HCPCS, DRG, and related coding aligned with physician documentation.

You will prepare daily and monthly coding audit reports, abstract essential information from health records, and provide timely feedback to physicians while staying updated with DOH directives and infection control standards. Strong English communication and AHIMA-CCA certification are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate in Allied Health Sciences or a related field.
• Certified Coding Associate (CCA) certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
• Minimum of two (2) years of coding experience.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and sequences accurate ICD-9-CM, CPT, HCPCS, DRG, and other applicable codes for diagnoses and procedures based on documented clinical information.
• Ensures final diagnoses and operative procedures documented by physicians are valid, complete, and compliant.
• Prepares daily and monthly coding audit reports.
• Abstracts all required information from medical records to identify secondary complications and co-morbid conditions.
• Evaluates medical records for documentation consistency, completeness, and adequacy, ensuring diagnoses reflect the care provided.
• Ensures coding compliance with DOH guidelines, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Provides timely and constructive feedback to physicians regarding coding errors, omissions, or documentation gaps.
• Remains updated with current coding systems, revisions, and DOH coding directives.
