Job summary

NMC Specialty Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE is seeking a skilled Medical coder to ensure accurate ICD-9-CM/CPT/HCPCS/DRG coding based on physician documentation. You will audit diagnoses and procedures, provide feedback to clinicians, and prepare daily and monthly coding reports.

The role requires a CCA certification with Allied Health Sciences background and a minimum of two years of coding experience. You will stay current with DOH directives and collaborate across departments.

Qualifications

• Graduate in Allied Health Sciences or related field.
• Certified Coding Associate (CCA) certification from AHIMA.
• Minimum of two years of coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and sequences accurate ICD-9-CM, CPT, HCPCS, DRG, and other applicable codes based on documented clinical information.
• Ensures that final diagnoses and operative procedures documented by physicians are valid, complete, and compliant.
• Prepares daily and monthly coding audit reports.
• Abstracts required information from medical records to identify secondary complications and co-morbid conditions.
• Evaluates medical records for documentation consistency, completeness, and adequacy.
• Ensures coding compliance with DOH guidelines, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Provides timely feedback to physicians regarding coding errors or omissions.
• Keeps updated with current coding systems, revisions, and DOH directives.
• Maintains intra- and inter-departmental communication for smooth operations.
