Job summary

James L Williams Middle East is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical QA/QC Engineer to join our QA/QC team and support the successful delivery of major MEP projects.

The role focuses on ensuring mechanical installations meet PQP, coordinating ITPs and MIRs/WIRs, managing NCRs and SORs, and guiding site teams to achieve handover readiness with thorough close-out documentation. You will mentor junior staff and coordinate with Consultants and clients to ensure compliance and timely handover.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years QA/QC on data centre projects.
• Knowledge of PQP, ITPs, MIRs, WIRs, NCRs, SORs.
• Experience coordinating with Clients, Consultants and subcontractors.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure mechanical installations comply with the approved Project Quality Plan (PQP), specifications, shop drawings, and authority requirements.
• Develop and coordinate Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Method Statements for relevant mechanical installations.
• Manage Material Inspection Requests (MIRs) and verify materials delivered to site against approved technical submittals.
• Conduct material and work inspections with Consultants and relevant third parties and ensure only approved materials are released for installation.
• Prepare and coordinate Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) and ensure rejected MIRs/WIRs are promptly addressed and resubmitted.
• Coordinate mock-up inspections with Consultants and discipline engineers where required.
• Conduct regular site quality inspections to verify compliance with approved Method Statements and drawings.
• Manage NCRs and Site Observation Reports (SORs), including corrective actions and close-out, and support measures to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure measuring and testing instruments used on site have valid calibration.
• Verify that the latest approved IFC drawings are being used on site and superseded drawings are appropriately controlled.
• Ensure project close‑out documentation, including As‑Built drawings, O&M Manuals, Warranty Certificates, and spare parts requirements, is completed and maintained.
• Coordinate snagging and quality close‑out activities to facilitate successful project handover.
• Provide quality guidance and training to site teams where recurring quality issues are identified.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of QA/QC experience, with mandatory experience in Data Centre projects.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical installations, inspection requirements, specifications, approved drawings, and quality processes.
• Strong working knowledge of PQP, ITPs, Method Statements, MIRs, WIRs, NCRs, SORs, and project close‑out documentation.
• Experience coordinating with Clients, Consultants, Project Engineers, subcontractors, and service providers.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, coordination, and people management skills.
• Ability to identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
