Job summary

National Consulting Office for Engineering is seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector for field audits of waterworks infrastructure, including pipelines, valves and related installations. You will verify workmanship, material conformance and adherence to ITPs and drawings on site, and document findings in formal reports.

The role demands a minimum of five years in mechanical inspections, strong attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical inspection experience.
• Experience in infrastructure water works, pipelines, valves and fittings inspection.
• Knowledge of ITPs, drawings, NCRs, QA/QC processes.
• CSWIP / AWS / ASNT or equivalent certifications are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough site inspections of waterworks infrastructure including pipelines, fire hydrants, and mechanical installations to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and standards.
• Perform detailed inspection of mechanical installations such as valves, fittings, flanges, supports, and pressure-testing activities.
• Prepare and submit HSE Observation Reports identifying unsafe acts/conditions and near-misses; follow up on corrective actions.
• Compile and submit Daily Inspection Reports documenting activities, findings, non-conformances, and punch list status.
• Inspect and verify material deliveries against submittals, mill certificates, and purchase orders.
• Review ITPs and Method Statements to plan and execute inspection activities.
• Identify non-conformances, raise NCRs, and monitor close-out with QA/QC team.
• Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies and client representatives at witness/hold points per ITP.
• Maintain inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation for audit and handover.
