Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Buildings & Places Construction Supervision team in Abu Dhabi. You will oversee mechanical systems installation, testing, and commissioning while leading technical direction and coordinating with architects, civil and electrical engineers to ensure project success.

You will review drawings, submittals and material approvals, ensure compliance with codes and safety standards, and maintain thorough site documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Masters preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of mechanical engineering experience with at least 5 years in construction supervision for Buildings & Places projects.
• Proficiency in mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools).
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, building codes and construction methodologies.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA and LEED is a plus.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with clients, contractors and team members.

Responsibilities

• Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection).
• Perform walk-downs and inspections to ensure conformance with specs and design.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
• Review and approve design drawings, shop drawings and submittals.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integration of mechanical systems.
• Prepare site reports, inspection records and progress updates.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize delays or overruns.
• Demonstrate professional judgment aligning engineering solutions with project goals.
