Job summary

Stantec in the United Arab Emirates is seeking a Consultant Safety Officer to ensure construction activities meet UAE HSE regulations and ISO standards. You will monitor safety, perform inspections, and advise project teams while liaising with authorities and clients.

The role requires NEBOSH IGC 3, a Bachelor’s in a related field, and ~8 years of UAE construction safety experience, including time with engineering consultancies. Strong leadership and reporting skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
• NEBOSH IGC Level 3 – Mandatory.
• 8 years of construction safety experience in the UAE (minimum 6 years relevant).
• 2–3 years’ experience with engineering consultancy firms (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of UAE HSE regulations, local authority requirements, and international HSE standards.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve Contractor HSE Plans, RA, MS, JSA, SOP, Lifting Plans and related documents.
• Develop, implement, and update the Stantec Project-Specific HSE Plan.
• Communicate approved Project HSE Plans to all employees and ensure implementation on site.
• Monitor, audit, and evaluate contractor HSE performance and enforce safety culture.
• Conduct regular site inspections, hazard identifications, audits, and close corrective actions.
• Lead HSE meetings, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns; deliver HSE training.
