Job summary

Government hospital in the UAE seeks an experienced Consultant General Surgeon with expertise in diagnosing and managing a broad range of general surgical conditions. The role offers exposure to elective and emergency procedures in an advanced hospital environment with multidisciplinary collaboration.

The successful candidate will provide patient-centered care while contributing to surgical excellence, clinical governance, and ongoing development of surgical services.

Qualifications

• Medical degree with general surgery specialization.
• American Board/UK CCT or equivalent in General Surgery.
• Consultant-level clinical experience.
• Extensive elective and emergency general surgery experience.
• Experience in leading tertiary-care environments.
• Strong clinical judgment and surgical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Team player in multidisciplinary settings.
• Commitment to patient safety and governance.
• Active engagement in CPD.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage general surgical patients.
• Perform elective and emergency general surgeries.
• Manage complex abdominal and GI cases.
• Pre-operative assessments and treatment planning.
• Post-operative care and monitoring for complications.
• Respond to surgical emergencies with timely intervention.
• Collaborate with anesthesia, radiology, oncology, and others.
• Participate in MDT meetings and audits.
• Maintain clinical documentation and safety standards.
• Support protocol development and service improvement.
