Job Summary
Government hospital in the UAE is looking for an experienced Consultant General Surgeon with strong expertise in the diagnosis and surgical management of a broad range of general surgical conditions. The role offers exposure to elective and emergency procedures, complex surgical cases, and multidisciplinary collaboration within an advanced hospital environment. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient-centered care while contributing to surgical excellence, clinical governance, and the continued development of surgical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of general surgical conditions.
- Perform elective and emergency general surgical procedures according to clinical expertise.
- Manage complex abdominal, gastrointestinal, hernia, soft tissue, and other general surgical conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Provide post-operative care and monitor patients for complications and recovery.
- Respond to surgical emergencies and provide timely clinical intervention.
- Work closely with anesthesiology, gastroenterology, radiology, oncology, critical care, and other specialties.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and complex case discussions.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with patient safety and infection-control standards.
- Participate in clinical audits, teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support the development of surgical protocols and advanced general surgery services.
- Medical degree with recognized postgraduate qualification in General Surgery.
- Recognized American Board/UK CCT or equivalent qualification in General Surgery.
- Established Consultant-level clinical experience.
- Strong experience in elective and emergency general surgery.
- Proven experience managing complex surgical and abdominal cases.
- Experience in a leading hospital, tertiary-care center, or advanced surgical setting preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, surgical skills, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
