Job summary

Arada seeks an experienced Senior Estimation Engineer with deep knowledge of Fire Fighting, Fire Alarm, and Emergency Lighting systems. The role involves independent management of the complete estimation process in the UAE market, including tender review, quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, cost analysis, supplier evaluation, brand comparison, pricing, and final commercial quotations.

The candidate must ensure accuracy and competitiveness under tight tender deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.
• 7-10+ years of experience in estimation and pricing, preferably in Fire & Life Safety or related contracting industries.
• UAE experience is mandatory.
• Strong MS Excel and estimation/pricing tools knowledge.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and tender documents.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documents, specifications, drawings, BOQs and scope of work.
• Analyze technical specifications to identify requirements, exclusions, assumptions and gaps.
• Review drawings to ensure fire & life safety systems are included in estimates.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and generate/validate BOQs.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers/subcontractors and compare brands.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Senior Estimation Engineer with extensive knowledge of Fire Fighting, Fire Alarm, and Emergency Lighting Systems. The ideal candidate should have proven UAE experience and strong technical and commercial expertise to independently manage the complete estimation process, including tender review, quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, cost analysis, supplier/subcontractor evaluation, brand comparison, pricing, and final commercial quotation preparation. The candidate must be commercially focused, detail-oriented, and capable of delivering accurate and competitive project estimates within tight tender deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Tender & Technical Review

• Review tender documents, specifications, drawings, BOQs, scope of work, and other project requirements.
• Analyze technical specifications and identify project requirements, exclusions, assumptions, and scope gaps.
• Review drawings and specifications to ensure all required Fire & Life Safety systems are considered in the estimate.
• Clarify technical and commercial requirements with relevant internal teams, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Estimation & Quantity Take-Off

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
• Generate, review, and validate BOQs based on project requirements.
• Material costs
• Labour costs
• Equipment costs
• Subcontracting costs
• Other project-related costs
• Ensure all quantities and pricing are accurately calculated and properly documented.

The candidate should have strong estimation and pricing experience in:

• Fire pumps and pump room equipment
• Hose reel systems
• Fire water tanks and associated equipment
• Valves, piping, fittings, supports, and accessories
• Smoke and heat detectors
• Manual call points
• Sounders, strobes, and notification devices
• Modules and interfaces
• Addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
• Associated cabling, containment, and accessories
• Exit signs
• Central battery systems, where applicable
• Associated cabling, containment, and accessories
• Obtain, evaluate, and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Evaluate pricing from different brands and manufacturers.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and approved/acceptable brands.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UAE market prices, suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
• Negotiate and evaluate commercial quotations to achieve competitive project pricing.
• Prepare competitive commercial quotations and tender submissions.
• Review material, labour, installation, overhead, and other project costs before finalizing the estimate.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining technical compliance.
• Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, procurement, engineering, project teams, and management to obtain the required technical and commercial information.
• Follow up on outstanding quotations and technical clarifications.
• Ensure estimates are completed accurately and submitted within the required tender deadlines.
• Maintain proper records of estimates, quotations, BOQs, assumptions, exclusions, and supporting documents.
• Assist management with commercial analysis and tender-related discussions when required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 7-10+ years of relevant experience in estimation and pricing, preferably within Fire & Life Safety, MEP, or related contracting industries.
• UAE experience is mandatory.
• Strong technical knowledge of:
• Experience working with various brands, manufacturers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Good knowledge of UAE suppliers and current market pricing.
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel and estimation/pricing tools.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and commercial skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders simultaneously
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict tender submission deadlines.
