Job summary

AECOM in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is seeking a Senior Engineer - Planning to lead detailed planning strategies for major infrastructure projects. You will develop schedules, optimize resources, and advise leadership on data-driven decisions to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in engineering project planning and scheduling.
  • Proficiency in CPM scheduling with Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Experience with WBS and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Engineer - Planning to join our organization in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive planning strategies that drive project success and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional analytical capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to make decisive recommendations that align with organizational objectives. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to optimize resource allocation, manage complex timelines, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and timelines using industry-standard planning tools and methodologies
  • Analyze project requirements and constraints to identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities for optimization
  • Allocate resources effectively across multiple projects, ensuring optimal utilization and capacity planning
  • Conduct feasibility studies and provide data-driven recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Monitor project progress against established baselines and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Prepare and present comprehensive planning reports, forecasts, and performance metrics to management
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, and clients to refine planning strategies and address challenges
  • Estimate project costs, budgets, and resource requirements with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement streamlined planning procedures
  • Mentor junior planning staff and contribute to the development of planning best practices within the organization
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and industry guidelines
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering project planning and scheduling
  • Proficiency in Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and related software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project)
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, engineering drawings, and specifications
  • Experience with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in project planning and scheduling
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools
  • Familiarity with change management processes and scope control
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
