Job summary

Syska Hennessy Group is seeking a senior site engineer with extensive ELV/ICT and Data Center experience for on-site work in Abu Dhabi. The role requires supervising installations, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring junior engineers on complex facilities.

You will engage with clients and contractors, ensure compliance with international standards and UAE regulations, and support certification and handover activities across large-scale projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Telecommunications engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant site supervision experience.
• Proven Data Center or Critical Facilities project experience mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of ELV/ICT systems and international standards.
• Based in UAE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent the firm with clients, contractors, and stakeholders on site.
• Supervise ELV/ICT installations including CCTV, fiber, cabling, access control, and BMS interfaces.
• Ensure installations meet designs, specs, and UAE regulations.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and method statements.
• Conduct site inspections and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Attend weekly and monthly project meetings.
• Monitor progress and provide solutions for on-time delivery.
• Witness testing, commissioning, and system integration.
• Prepare site instructions, snag lists, and close actions.
• Review as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and handover docs.
• Support TDRA, Civil Defence and security authorities compliance.
• Assist Data Center certification processes (Uptime Institute where applicable).
• Mentor junior engineers and site teams.
• Support final inspections and handover to client.

Job description

We are looking for a candidate with significant site experience, specifically in Data Center or Critical Facilities projects. This is a site-based role requiring strong technical expertise in ELV/ICT systems, construction supervision, and coordination with contractors and project stakeholders. The successful candidate will also support and mentor junior engineers.

Job Responsibilities

• Represent Syska Hennessy Group in all interactions with clients, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
• Supervise and monitor the installation of ELV/ICT systems, including structured cabling, fiber optics, CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, fire alarm, BMS interfaces, and telecommunications infrastructure.
• Ensure ELV/ICT installations comply with approved designs, project specifications, local regulations, and international standards.
• Review and approve contractor submissions, including shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs, method statements, and technical documentation.
• Conduct regular site inspections to verify installation quality, workmanship, and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate ELV/ICT activities with electrical, mechanical, civil, architectural, and other engineering disciplines.
• Participate in weekly and monthly project meetings with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Monitor site progress, identify technical issues, and provide solutions to ensure timely project delivery.
• Review and witness testing, commissioning, and integration of ELV/ICT systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
• Prepare site instructions, inspection reports, snag lists, and technical observations, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Review as-built drawings, O&M manuals, testing records, and final handover documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable UAE authority requirements, including TDRA, Civil Defence, and relevant security authorities.
• Support Data Center certification processes, including Uptime Institute requirements, where applicable.
• Provide technical guidance and supervision to junior engineers and site teams.
• Support final inspections, system acceptance, and handover of completed facilities to the client.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, preferably within an engineering consultancy, including significant site supervision experience.
• Proven experience in Data Center or Critical Facilities projects is mandatory.
• Strong technical knowledge of ELV/ICT systems, including structured cabling, fiber optics, CCTV, access control, fire alarm, and telecommunications infrastructure.
• Experience reviewing shop drawings, material submissions, RFIs, method statements, and testing and commissioning documentation.
• Familiarity with international standards such as TIA, BICSI, ISO/IEC, NFPA, and applicable UAE regulations.
• Strong coordination, communication, and technical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently manage site activities and coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Professional certifications such as RCDD or equivalent are an advantage.
• Candidates currently based in the UAE are preferred.
