Job summary

Ericsson is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to join the IT Operations team in the United Arab Emirates. You will manage day-to-day production support for Oracle, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MySQL, and MS SQL Server databases, including backup, patching, DR, and high availability.

You will drive optimization, monitor health and performance, and implement automation. Strong Linux/Windows experience and Oracle/OCI expertise are required; OCP or equivalent certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of enterprise DBA experience across Oracle and multiple DB platforms.
• Strong experience with Oracle Database and OCI, including RMAN, ASM, RAC, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on administration of PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MySQL, and MS SQL Server with replication, backup/recovery, HA/DR.
• Proficient in Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
• Good understanding of SAN/NAS storage, networking, and virtualization technologies.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring tools and ServiceNow/ITSM platforms.
• Scripting and automation using Shell, PowerShell, Python or equivalents.
• Oracle certification (OCP) or equivalent preferred; other DB certs are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day administration and L2/L3 production support for enterprise databases.
• Monitor health, availability, performance, capacity, replication, and storage utilization.
• Manage database configurations, users, roles, privileges, and access controls.
• Perform backup, recovery, restore, replication, and DR activities; participate in DR exercises.
• Apply patching, upgrades, maintenance, and vulnerability remediation.
• Troubleshoot performance issues including CPU, memory, I/O, locking, blocking, and query performance.
• Manage incidents, problems and changes per ITIL/ITSM processes.
• Conduct root cause analysis for major or recurring incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Support HA, clustering and replication solutions.
• Administer Oracle databases and OCI services, including connectivity, backup and ops troubleshooting.
• Develop scripts and automation for health checks, monitoring, maintenance, and routine DBA tasks.
• Maintain runbooks and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with Application, Infrastructure, Storage, Network, Security, and vendor teams.

About this opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, availability, performance, security, backup and recovery, patching, and operational support of enterprise databases across Oracle, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of business-critical database environments while supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you will do

• Manage incidents, problems, and changes in accordance with ITIL/ITSM processes.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for major or recurring incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Support high-availability (HA), clustering, and replication solutions.
• Administer and support Oracle databases and database services hosted on OCI, including connectivity, monitoring, backup, and operational troubleshooting.
• Develop scripts and automation solutions for health checks, monitoring, maintenance, and routine DBA activities.
• Maintain database operational procedures, runbooks, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate closely with Application, Infrastructure, Storage, Network, Security, and vendor teams.

What you will bring

• A minimum of 8 years of enterprise DBA experience, with strong hands-on production administration across Oracle and multiple database platforms.
• Strong experience with Oracle Database and OCI, including RMAN, ASM, RAC, performance tuning, patching/upgrades, OCI database services, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on administration experience with PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server, including replication, backup and recovery, HA/DR, and performance tuning.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
• Good understanding of SAN/NAS storage, networking, and virtualization technologies.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring tools and ServiceNow/ITSM platforms.
• Scripting and automation skills using Shell, PowerShell, Python, or equivalent technologies.
• Strong production troubleshooting, ownership, and incident management skills.
• Oracle certification (OCP) or equivalent is preferred.
• PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or Cassandra certifications are an advantage.
• Experience working in large-scale enterprise or telecommunications environments.
• Experience supporting highly available, business-critical production databases.
• Experience with cloud database technologies is considered a plus.
