Job summary

Cognite in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and scale data pipelines on Cognite Data Fusion, partnering with energy and manufacturing domains. You’ll work with data scientists, solution architects, and project managers to deploy production-grade data solutions that enable clients to unlock value from industrial data.

You will leverage Kubernetes and cloud services (GCP/Azure), collaborate across teams, and contribute to Cognite’s tools and SDKs while maintaining DevOps

Qualifications

• 8+ years in a customer-facing data-intensive role.
• Experience delivering production-grade data pipelines with Python, SQL and Rest APIs.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud services (GCP/Azure).
• Domain knowledge in oil & gas or manufacturing data is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable data engineering solutions using Cognite Data Fusion.
• Drive integrations, data modeling, and analysis using Cognite connectors, SQL, Python/Java and Rest APIs.
• Create and optimize data models for discovery, mapping, and cleansing.
• Collaborate with data scientists, project managers and solution architects to enable customer value.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure high-quality, maintainable deliveries.
• Support customers in data engineering tasks with Cognite products.
• Contribute to Cognite's tools and SDKs development.
• Work with Engineering and Product teams to turn needs into a product backlog.

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable and efficient data engineering solutions using our platform Cognite Data Fusion.
• Drive and manage integrations, extractions, data modeling, and analysis using Cognite data connectors and SQL, Python/Java and Rest APIs.
• Create custom data models for data discovery, mapping, and cleansing.
• Collaborate with data scientists, project managers and solution architects to enable our customers to achieve the full potential of our industrial data platform.
• Conduct code reviews and implement best practices to ensure high-quality and maintainable code and deliveries.
• Support customers and partners in conducting data engineering tasks with Cognite products.
• Contribute to the development of Cognite’s official tools and SDKs.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management teams to turn customer needs into a prioritized pipeline of product offerings.

The Impact you bring to Cognite

• Bachelor or Master degree in computer science or similar. Relevant experience can compensate for formal education
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in a customer-facing data-intensive role
• Experience delivering production-grade data pipelines using e.g. Python, SQL and Rest APIs
• Experience with distributed computing such as Kubernetes and managed cloud services such as GCP and/or Azure
• Domain experience/knowledge of data sources within oil and gas & manufacturing industry is a plus
• Have a DevOps mindset, and experience with Git, CI/CD, deployment environments
• Enjoys working in cross-functional teams
• Able to independently investigate and solve problems
• Humility to ask for help and enjoy sharing knowledge with others
