Job summary

Astra ProMed in Dubai is seeking an experienced Consultant in Critical Care to lead ICU patient management, complex emergencies, and multidisciplinary care. The ideal candidate will have extensive post‑specialization ICU experience and be eligible for DHA consultant status.

You will supervise healthcare teams, coordinate advanced life support, and drive quality of care, patient safety, and continuous professional development within a state‑of‑the‑art facility in Dubai.

Qualifications

• MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Critical Care Medicine / Intensive Care Medicine or a recognized primary specialty with accredited subspecialty training in Critical Care.
• Board certification or equivalent recognized consultant qualification.
• Fellowship or advanced subspecialty training in Critical Care Medicine is highly desirable.
• Minimum 5-10 years of post-specialization experience, including substantial experience in intensive care medicine.
• Strong expertise in managing critically ill patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Demonstrated competence in mechanical ventilation, advanced airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and invasive ICU procedures.
• Eligible for DHA Consultant classification/license in Dubai, subject to applicable qualification and experience requirements.
• Excellent clinical judgment, leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Lead and coordinate resuscitation, emergency stabilization, and rapid response interventions.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, pulmonologists, cardiologists, surgeons, nephrologists, neurologists, and other multidisciplinary specialists.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessment, laboratory investigations, imaging, and continuous patient monitoring.
• Oversee sedation, analgesia, nutritional support, and infection prevention strategies in critically ill patients.
• Supervise ICU physicians, residents, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Communicate effectively with patients' families regarding clinical conditions, prognosis, and care plans.
• Ensure compliance with ICU protocols, infection control, clinical governance, and patient-safety standards.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, teaching, research, and CME activities.
