Job summary

Astra ProMed in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Specialist Critical Care Physician to join a leading hospital. The role focuses on managing critically ill patients in the ICU with advanced life-support interventions.

The ideal candidate brings MBBS/MD, postgraduate critical care qualification, and at least 3–5 years of post-specialization experience. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based critical care and research.

Qualifications

• MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree.
• Postgraduate qualification in Critical Care Medicine / Intensive Care Medicine.
• Board certification or equivalent recognized specialist qualification.
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant post-specialization experience, with substantial clinical exposure to intensive care medicine.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, diagnosis, and management of critically ill patients in ICU.
• Manage sepsis, septic shock, ARDS, and multi-organ dysfunction.
• Perform advanced airway management and invasive/non-invasive ventilation.
• Conduct invasive procedures like endotracheal intubation and central venous catheterization.
• Monitor hemodynamics and vasopressor support.
• Oversee care of complex medical and surgical ICU patients.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and ICU nurses.
• Develop treatment plans based on labs, imaging, and monitoring.
• Oversee sedation, analgesia, nutrition, infection control, and ventilator weaning.
• Coordinate organ-support therapies such as CRRT where available.
• Identify ICU complications and ensure patient safety.
• Oversee admission, stabilization, transfer, and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, pulmonologists, cardiologists, surgeons, nephrologists, neurologists.
• Communicate with families regarding prognosis and plans.
• Maintain documentation and adherence to ICU protocols and governance.
• Participate in audits, CME, teaching, and research.
