Job summary

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City - SSMC seeks a Clinical Coder to review, analyze and code hospital records, assigning ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for complex encounters. You will abstract data for accuracy, consult CDI/physicians when needed, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines.

Responsibilities include ensuring proper code sequencing, collaborating with Revenue Cycle Management, and training other coding levels while maintaining production targets and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of relevant progressive experience in a similar role.
• Experience in a large healthcare facility.
• Bachelor Degree in Health Information Management or relevant field with or Diploma with 3 years of additional experience in Healthcare.
• Master degree or equivalent in Health Information Management or relevant field.

Responsibilities

• Assign codes for diagnoses, treatments and procedures for complex inpatient encounters, OP/ED or observation short stay.
• Prepare and review provider documentation to determine principal diagnosis, comorbidities and complications and E&Ms.
• Adhere to official coding guidelines to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Clarify diagnosis and procedural information through a query process to ensure accurate coding.
• Assign POA value for inpatient diagnoses and accurate physician name against each service.

Education

Bachelor Degree in Health Information Management or relevant field

Diploma with 3 years additional Healthcare experience

Master degree or equivalent in Health Information Management or relevant field
