Role Context
The Senior BIM Engineer will provide technical leadership for digital delivery throughout the construction supervision phase of complex building projects. The position connects design information, contractor models, field activities, multidisciplinary coordination, and project controls so that potential conflicts can be identified before they affect construction. By maintaining accurate federated models and disciplined information workflows, the role supports better decisions, reduced rework, stronger coordination, and a more efficient transition from construction to final asset handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead BIM implementation during construction supervision in line with client requirements, project BIM standards, and approved digital delivery procedures.
- Manage and coordinate federated BIM models covering architectural, structural, MEP, and specialist disciplines.
- Review contractor BIM execution plans, model submissions, information exchanges, and digital deliverables for technical and procedural compliance.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary BIM coordination meetings and drive resolution of clashes, spatial conflicts, and interface issues before work progresses on site.
- Assess model quality, geometry, data integrity, naming conventions, level of development, and information requirements.
- Generate coordinated model views, construction visualizations, sequencing information, and quantity data to support site teams.
- Work closely with the Resident Engineer, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, architects, and engineering disciplines to maintain reliable information exchange.
- Use BIM-enabled reporting and digital tools to support construction progress monitoring and project decision-making.
- Maintain coordination logs, clash detection reports, BIM progress records, model review comments, and digital delivery metrics.
- Track unresolved model issues and ensure corrective actions are incorporated into subsequent revisions.
- Support the development and validation of as-built BIM models and asset information required for project handover.
- Review contractor and subcontractor model updates to ensure they reflect approved construction changes and current site conditions.
- Provide technical direction to BIM Engineers, BIM Coordinators, and BIM Technicians.
- Help standardize model review procedures and strengthen digital coordination practices across the project team.
- Coordinate digital interfaces between building systems to minimize field conflicts, redesign, and construction delays.
- Ensure project information remains structured, traceable, current, and accessible throughout the construction lifecycle.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor 's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10-15 years of professional experience in engineering, design coordination, BIM, or construction delivery.
- At least 5 years of experience managing BIM activities on major construction supervision projects.
- Demonstrated expertise coordinating architectural, structural, MEP, and specialist BIM models.
- Strong understanding of BIM execution plans, information requirements, model review procedures, and digital project deliverables.
- Practical experience with clash detection, multidisciplinary coordination, model federation, and construction-stage issue resolution.
- BIM-related professional certification is highly desirable.
- Ability to review complex model submissions and identify technical, spatial, and information-management deficiencies.
- Experience supporting construction teams through model-based visualization, sequencing, and coordination.
- Familiarity with as-built model development and structured asset information for handover.
- Strong technical communication skills for coordination with consultants, contractors, engineers, and senior project stakeholders.
- Proven capability to mentor BIM personnel and maintain consistent project-wide digital standards.
