Responsibilities

Role Context

The Structures BIM Lead will take ownership of structural BIM delivery and ensure that digital models accurately represent engineering design intent throughout each project stage. The position connects structural design teams with project-wide BIM requirements, helping maintain reliable information, coordinated documentation, and efficient digital workflows. This role has a direct impact on design quality and project delivery by reducing coordination conflicts, improving model consistency, supporting automated processes, and ensuring that structural information is suitable for downstream drawing production, review, construction coordination, and handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead structural BIM implementation across project stages from concept development through handover.
• Ensure structural models are developed in accordance with the BIM Execution Plan and applicable project standards.
• Establish and maintain discipline-specific BIM workflows, model structures, and information requirements.
• Manage the development, coordination, and ongoing maintenance of structural BIM models.
• Verify that model content accurately represents approved structural design intent.
• Coordinate structural models with architectural, MEP, infrastructure, and other discipline models.
• Identify coordination issues and support timely resolution of model clashes before formal submissions.
• Conduct regular BIM model audits to assess health, accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
• Use Revit Warnings, Model Checker, and other quality-control tools to identify and resolve model issues.
• Monitor compliance with project-specific BIM standards, LOD requirements, and digital delivery procedures.
• Generate coordinated 2D deliverables directly from BIM models, including plans, sections, elevations, and details.
• Ensure extracted drawings use the correct scales, view templates, title blocks, annotations, and presentation standards.
• Support sheet creation, drawing package development, annotation workflows, and pre-submission print reviews.
• Coordinate internally with structural engineers and designers to maintain consistency between calculations, design intent, and model information.
• Support project setup activities involving the Common Data Environment, design models, file structures, and collaboration protocols.
• Maintain accurate project information within the designated CDE.
• Review structural model information for presentation quality and technical consistency.
• Support development and adoption of BIM automation tools that improve productivity and reduce repetitive modeling tasks.
• Apply computational design techniques where they provide measurable improvements to project workflows.
• Explore parametric modeling solutions for complex structural geometry and repetitive design processes.
• Use interoperability workflows between Revit and relevant structural or multidisciplinary software platforms.
• Contribute to Revit API, Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino, and related digital engineering initiatives.
• Keep project teams informed of evolving BIM tools, digital technologies, and practical workflow improvements.
• Work with project teams to establish model setup requirements and coordinated drawing packages.
• Provide technical guidance to junior BIM technicians and support consistent working practices.
• Review junior team outputs and provide corrective direction when model or drawing standards are not achieved.
• Work within company procedures and project deadlines while maintaining high standards of digital delivery.
• Support project managers and discipline leads with BIM-related planning, coordination, and reporting.

Ideal Profile

Candidates should hold a diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline and have approximately 6-8 years of professional experience in BIM and digital project delivery. Strong experience with structural BIM workflows is essential, including project setup, BIM Execution Plans, LOD requirements, model coordination, drawing extraction, and quality assurance. Candidates should be comfortable managing discipline models independently while coordinating effectively across multidisciplinary teams. Advanced practical capability in Revit is expected, together with a solid understanding of interoperability between Revit and other engineering software platforms. Experience with computational and automated design workflows will be highly valuable. Familiarity with Revit API, Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino, common APIs, and parametric modeling techniques is particularly relevant.
