Job summary

Confidential Careers in Dubai Downtown seeks a Senior Accountant reporting to the Accounts Manager at the HO. You will handle general and subsidiary ledgers, prepare trial balances, and assist with budgets while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.

Required are 10+ years in financial accounting, IFRS knowledge, and proficiency with MS Office and accounting software (QuickBooks preferred). CMA/CPA is a plus. This full-time role is based in Dubai.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• CMA/CPA certification preferred.
• 10+ years of financial accounting experience in senior roles.
• Experience with general ledger and month-end/year-end close.
• Proficient in IFRS and MS Office; QuickBooks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Applies principles of accounting to prepare ledger entries and document transactions.
• Maintains daily supplier, customer, intercompany invoices and declarations.
• Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers; posts debits and credits and records transactions.
• Determines funding opportunities and advises on investments.
• Maintains relations with banks including compliance, LC, LG, hedging, and instruments.
• Ensures record-keeping meets funder/Statutory requirements.
• Ensures compliance with relevant legislation.
• Assists in budgeting and cost-effective purchasing of office equipment.
• Audits documents to substantiate financial transactions.
• Reconciles discrepancies by analyzing account information.
• Contributes to team goals and protects confidential information.

Job description

A Senior Accountant will report to the Accounts Manager at our company's HO in Dubai Downtown.

Key Responsibilities:

• Applies principles of accounting in analyzing financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.

• Maintains General Accounting of Daily Transactions (Supplier Invoices, Supplier Payments, Customer Invoices.Intercompany Invoicing, Employee Declarations.

• Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers and journals; posts debits and credits; records receipts and balances to the accounting system; examines and records financial transactions.

• Determines funding opportunities and advises on investment opportunities.

• Maintains relations with banks regarding the following: compliance, LC, LG, hedging, and any other financial instruments.

• Ensure that record-keeping and accounts meet the conditions of funders or statutory bodies.

• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

• Assists with the preparation of the Company’s budgets maintain proper usage of office equipment for cost-effective purchasing.

• Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
• Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

• Protects the company's value by keeping information confidential.

Accountability

• Receives and verifies suppliers’ invoices and ensures that transactions comply with financial policies and procedures.

• Compiles data for preparation of periodic and annual financial reports.

• Prepares trial balances and balance sheets; closes accounts at the end of the fiscal year and prepares opening balances and accounts at the beginning of the new fiscal year.

• Accomplishes the Finance Department and organization mission by completing related results and assignments as needed.

• In charge of all financial manager duties in the event of absence.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

Relevant certification – CMA/CPA will be preferred

Experience:

10+ years of financial accounting experience - proven experience as a senior accountant/ Chief Accountant/ Treasurer - Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

Skills:

Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures

Excellent knowledge in “bank relations”

Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS)

Excellent knowledge of MS Office and solid experience with accounting software packages – QuickBooks is preferable
