Job summary

Opex Energy is seeking an experienced Rotating Equipment Superintendent for the MERAM Project, based in Habshan, Abu Dhabi (UAE). You will supervise installation, assembly and pre-commissioning of rotating equipment, focusing on centrifugal compressors and pumps, and manage mechanical teams with strong vendor coordination.

The role requires proven leadership, extensive experience with centrifugals, lube oil flushing and dry gas seals, and a track record on large Oil & Gas projects throughout

Qualifications

• Proven previous experience as a Rotating Equipment Superintendent on major Oil & Gas or industrial projects.
• Extensive hands-on experience in centrifugal compressor installation, assembly and alignment.
• Demonstrated experience with lube oil flushing and dry gas seal installation.
• Strong technical knowledge of centrifugal pumps, particularly BB5, BB2, OH and similar types.
• Working knowledge of static equipment and mechanical installation activities.
• Experience supervising mechanical teams and coordinating subcontractors.
• Familiarity with construction, mechanical completion and pre-commissioning procedures.
• Strong leadership, organizational and reporting skills.
• Proactive attitude, problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Description

Opex Energy is looking for an experienced Rotating Equipment Superintendent to join the MERAM Project, located in Habshan, Abu Dhabi (UAE).

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the installation, assembly and pre-commissioning activities of rotating equipment, with a particular focus on centrifugal compressors and pumps.

The project is currently in the equipment installation phase, with commissioning activities expected to begin within the next 1-2 months.

Previous proven experience in a Superintendent role is essential, together with strong technical expertise in rotating equipment installation, mechanical supervision and team management within large-scale Oil & Gas projects.

Scope of Work

Supervision and coordination of mechanical construction and pre-commissioning activities related to rotating equipment, ensuring proper installation, alignment and mechanical readiness in accordance with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, quality standards and HSE procedures.

The scope includes centrifugal compressors (Siemens, Baker Hughes and similar manufacturers), centrifugal pumps (BB5, BB2, OH and similar types), lubrication systems, dry gas seals and associated mechanical equipment.

The Superintendent will also oversee mechanical teams, coordinate site activities, monitor progress and provide technical support during the transition from construction to pre-commissioning and commissioning.

Main Activities

• Centrifugal Compressors: Supervise the installation, assembly, positioning and alignment of centrifugal compressors (Siemens, Baker Hughes and similar manufacturers).


• Rotating Equipment Installation: Coordinate mechanical installation activities, including equipment positioning, leveling, alignment and verification of installation tolerances.


• Lubrication Systems: Supervise lube oil flushing activities, ensuring compliance with equipment specifications and manufacturer requirements.


• Dry Gas Seals: Oversee the installation and assembly of dry gas seals and associated systems.


• Pumps: Supervise the installation, assembly and alignment of centrifugal pumps, particularly BB5, BB2, OH and similar configurations.


• Static Equipment: Provide technical support and supervision for associated static equipment installation activities when required.


• Pre-commissioning: Coordinate mechanical completion checks, inspections, punch list resolution and equipment readiness for pre-commissioning and commissioning.


• Team Management: Lead, supervise and coordinate mechanical teams, subcontractors and site personnel, ensuring effective resource allocation and execution of planned activities.


• Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Monitor construction progress, prepare regular reports, identify technical issues and propose corrective actions.


• Quality & HSE Compliance: Ensure that all activities are performed in accordance with project quality standards, approved procedures and HSE requirements.


• Technical Coordination: Liaise with engineering, construction, quality, commissioning teams and equipment vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project execution.
