Job summary

RO Process Engineer M2RO at Mirfa 2 RO Water Plant is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the SWRO plant, focusing on process and chemicals to meet environmental and contractual limits.

The role requires at least five years' experience in RO plant operations or water treatment, hands-on startup/shutdown, membrane performance analysis, and optimization of energy and chemical use. Collaboration with O&M teams is essential.

Qualifications

• At least five years experience in RO plant operations, water treatment or process engineering.
• Hands-on startup/shutdown and abnormal protocol experience.
• Experience with membrane autopsy, rejection rate analysis and flux decline troubleshooting.
• Experience with membrane cleaning procedures and lifespan optimization.
• Strong understanding of membrane filtration, scaling, fouling and biofouling prevention.
• Experience with PASS for performance tracking and financial reconciliation.

2. JOB PURPOSE:

The purpose of the RO Process Engineer is;

To ensure the safe and efficient operation of the SWRO plant related to process and chemicals in order to

achieve commercial targets within the strict environmental and contractual limits;

To establish and monitor the stations water treatment water chemistry RO plant performance and

environmental performance including the development and continuous improvement of operating and

maintenance procedures and practices setting standards and reviewing real time performance indicators

against the Environmental Approvals and other agreed guidelines and parameters;

To work along with the Operations and Maintenance Teams ensures a lifecycle management approach is

taken with regard to Operations and Maintenance Practices on Water Treatment and RO Plants.

To ensure compliance of flow & quality Optimize the process in terms of reliability and costs of chemicals/power consumption

During O&M Period / post COD of plant;

This key role is responsible for making accurate timely decisions affecting plant processes and performance

with collaboration from the O&M Manager when required. The position requires a comprehensive

understanding of Engie safety regulations and adherence to commercial agreements including the PWPA and

O&M agreements as well as practical experience in the technologies involved in operating a modern Reverse

Osmosis Desalination plant and a diverse range of auxiliary equipment.

The role demands a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in plant equipment operations and the development and

adherence of operational procedures & protocols.

To support and substitute Shift Charge Engineer temporarily if needed.

These responsibilities represent the minimum expectations for the role; additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Experience:

At least five years experience in RO plant operations water treatment or process engineering.

Hands-on experience in plant start-up shutdown abnormal protocol is required.

Hands-on experience with membrane autopsy rejection rate analysis and flux decline troubleshooting.

Experience in membrane cleaning procedures performance tracking and lifespan optimization.

In-depth understanding of membrane filtration principles scaling fouling and biofouling prevention.

Experience with Plant Accounting Settlement System (PASS) for performance tracking and financial

reconciliation

Expertise in calculating and optimizing Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) in RO processes.

Commissioning and start up experience would be an advantage.

Having knowledge and exposure of modern process operations.
