About Rashid and Latifa Schools Establishment:
Established under Law No. (11) of 2022, Rashid and Latifa Schools (RLS) is a unified educational institution that brings together Latifa School for Girls (founded in 1982) and Rashid School for Boys (founded in 1986). Both schools were originally created by Royal Decree of the late Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with the vision of delivering world-class education to Emiratis and expatriates alike. As two of Dubai’s oldest and most prestigious schools, RLS has educated generations of leaders and influential figures, including His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Women’s Establishment, and Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture. Leadership
- Set an exemplary tone for the RLS community through modelling the RLS Purpose, Principles, Practices and Values
- Contribute to an exceptional Arabic team, relentlessly focused on research based, innovative pedagogy placing high importance on student wellness, motivation and playful learning
- Engage in professional practice, reflection and learning to support individual and whole school growth
- Contribute to whole school improvement priorities which will improve individual performance and student outcomes
- Establish and maintain effective partnerships and communication with parents and the community to support and improve students' enjoyment and achievement and ensure the safeguarding of all stakeholders
- Promote the use of current, high-quality Arabic resources across the school and be able to create more
- Promote Arabic language, literacy, literature and culture through dialogue and engagement with the wider community
- Understands the social and emotional needs of the middle school child and supports and nurtures positive and supportive relationships that build trust
- Versatile and adaptable practitioners who possess a passion and understanding of the middle school as a key transition point in a child's educational journey
Learning and Teaching
- Ensure the Arabic language arts curriculum is founded upon positive relationships that enhance each student’s sense of belonging, level of motivation and engagement to promote successful learning
- Co-plan and deliver an innovative curriculum with highly aspirational goals designed to support the unique needs of every student
- Ensure the consistent implementation of effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive culture for learning that deliberately and carefully optimises conduct, character and academic achievement to develop a deep sense of belonging to RLS
- Know how to tailor effective personalised provision for all learners including those for whom Arabic is an additional language, and how to celebrate diversity and promote equity and inclusion in teaching
- Provide frequent quality verbal and written feedback so that students know how to move forward
- Monitor student progress and identify, encourage and reward success and efforts made, as well as intervening appropriately where there are concerns
- Reflect on their own practice and contribute to the school’s and department’s self-evaluation processes
- Effectively lead Learning Assistants in all lessons to impact progress
- Communicate and report student attainment and progress to parents regularly through data, evidence and anecdotal observations in order to celebrate and impact progress
- Adopt a tech infused, learning enhanced approach to the delivery of the Arabic curriculum
- Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of Arabic or members of the Senior Leadership Team
- Support the RLS strategy for embedding digital innovation in learning
- Monitors and facilitates skills development, attainment and mastery
- Poses questions to drive curiosity rather than answers them.
- Maps the student journey through our threads of experience and builds connections through a transdisciplinary curriculum - there are no silos
- Curates' subject immersions to embed foundational skills and content
- Ignites curiosity and passion; promotes and facilitates exploration, discovery and a love of learning
Other Responsibilities
- Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people at RLS
- To support the Purpose and Principles of the school by adherence to its policies and practices including those on Safeguarding and Child Protection, Code of Conduct, Health and Safety, and Security
- Work with the Head of Arabic to ensure effective deployment of resources building an inventory and monitoring the quality of resources
- Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of Arabic and deemed necessary for the effective operation of the department and school
- Support and promote the RLS Sustainability Policy
- Acts as a learning guide on the side to support agency and discovery
Acts as a holistic advisor offering provocation and guides the journey towards future success
Essential Qualifications:
- Appropriate degree, and equivalent teaching qualification
- Outstanding competence in Modern Standard Arabic
- Knowledge of science of reading and teaching Arabic literacy using the phonetic and balanced literacy approaches
- A minimum of three years' experience teaching Arabic in a high performing school.
- Recognised outstanding practice in teaching Arabic
- Knowledge of the MOE curriculum and the UK national curriculum, as well as any current developments in the international language curriculum and pedagogy
- Experience supporting dual language learners in a high-impact learning and teaching environment
- Knowledge and experience of the frameworks and systems which contribute positively to learning and teaching
- Competent in English
- Valid police checks and supportive references
Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience of teaching language through play in an Early Years environment (Preferred)
- Fluent in English - IELTS level 8.5 and above (Preferred)
- The ability to deliver Higher Project Qualification (HPQ) and Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) (Preferred)
