Job summary

WSP in the UAE seeks an experienced Resident Engineer to lead site supervision on major structures projects across the UAE.

You will coordinate with clients, contractors and authorities, establish supervision plans, review programmes, monitor progress and ensure quality, safety and compliance.

With a UAE consulting background and 20+ years in major buildings, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high‑profile developments.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc (Hons) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• 20+ years of experience managing major building projects.
• UAE experience in consulting with discipline software proficiency.
• Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Lead construction supervision activities for the project.
• Establish a construction management plan to standardise contracts.
• Initiate and respond to contract communications with Client and Contractor.
• Arrange, chair and record meetings from kick-off to progress/management meetings.
• Establish procedures for inspection, testing and commissioning.
• Review the contractor’s HSE plan and ensure safety at site.
• Review contractor programs for detail, resources and cash flow.
• Monitor contractor progress and assess output.
• Implement QMS requirements and conduct audits.
• Liaise with service and other authorities to avoid delays; attend meetings.
• Certify interim and final payments after review.
• Prepare substantial completion reports and close-out docs.
• Issue taking-over and defects liability certificates as required.

We are looking for an experienced Resident Engineer to join our Structures Supervision team on major projects across the UAE. The role offers the opportunity to lead site supervision activities, coordinate with key stakeholders, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality structural and infrastructure works.

Responsibilities

• Lead the construction supervision activities for the specific project.
• Establish a construction management plan to ensure all contracts are administered to a common standard and practice.
• Initiate and respond to contract correspondence to and from Client, and contractual correspondence with the Contractor.
• Arrange, chair and record meetings, commencing with the kick-off meeting and thereafter progress and management meetings that are deemed necessary.
• Establish procedures for inspection approvals, testing, commissioning in accordance with the requirements of the contract.
• Review the contractor’s HSE plan and ensures that the safety procedures are followed at site.
• Review and comment on the contractor’s programs ensuring that they are sufficiently detailed to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of the contract, allocated resources and cash flow.
• Monitor the Contractors progress during construction and regularly assesses output.
• Implement QMS requirements and conduct regular Audits.
• Ensure the contractor liaises with service and other authorities in a timely manner so as not to affect the progress of the works by attending meetings, monitoring agreed programmes and regular follow-up.
• Certify interim and finalize payments after full review and consultation with the responsible team members.
• Prepare substantial completion reports including any outstanding requirements.
• Issue taking-over and defects liability certificates as required under the contract.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc (Hons) in Civil/Structural Engineering, or an equivalent qualification
• Minimum of 20 years’ experience in managing major building projects, including high-rise developments, luxury hotels, large-scale residential complexes and commercial buildings.
• Candidate must have prior UAE experience with a consulting background and possess comprehensive proficiency in discipline-specific software.
• Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
