Job summary

AECOM in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is seeking a detail-oriented Resident Engineer to join our on-site construction supervision team. You will oversee activities, ensure compliance with project specifications, and uphold quality and safety standards throughout the lifecycle of the building project.

The ideal candidate has extensive post-graduate experience, a civil/structural engineering background, and strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills to manage complex construction

Qualifications

• 15+ years post-undergraduate experience in building projects, with 5+ years in construction supervision or site engineering in a senior technical role.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering; PMP preferable; membership of a recognized professional institution preferred.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and construction standards applicable to Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
• Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
• Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage diverse teams.
• Thorough understanding of construction materials, methods, and MEP systems.
• Experience with quality control, inspection procedures, and testing protocols.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Supervise on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and codes.
• Conduct daily site inspections and prepare reports documenting progress, issues, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to meet schedules.
• Implement and enforce site safety protocols and conduct safety briefings.
• Review and approve construction materials, equipment, and workmanship.
• Manage technical documentation including logs, inspection records, test reports and as-built drawings.
• Identify and resolve construction-related issues promptly with recommended corrective actions.
• Communicate effectively with project management, clients, and stakeholders on status and concerns.
• Monitor project budgets and flag variances or overruns.
• Maintain organized records and documentation for contract compliance.
