Job summary

9x Dev is seeking a delivery‑focused engineering leader to own the technical picture for client engagements. You write code daily, shape patterns, and provide a single technical voice alongside a business voice, guiding a team of four to eight engineers.

You turn discovery into plans, write foundational code, decide build vs buy, and ensure a clean handover. You’ll mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions under deadlines, and communicate clearly with clients while keeping plan and reality

Qualifications

• Six years of building experience with at least one product led technically from start to handover.
• Proficiency across the stack: TypeScript at the front, Node and Postgres on the backend, React/Next.js, cloud familiarity.
• Ability to document diagrams, decision records, and trade-offs before changes.
• Experience integrating legacy APIs, SOAP, CSV drops, with credible plans for each.
• Cloud fluency across AWS, GCP or Cloudflare, and operating capabilities for client teams.

Responsibilities

• Turn conversations into plans with architecture and delivery roadmaps and clear risks visible to clients.
• Write foundational code and patterns that the team can extend and review daily.
• Make build‑or‑buy calls and explain them to clients who will pay for both options.
• Keep plan and reality aligned by flagging slips as soon as they appear.
• Lead technical conversations and present decisions under deadline, including tough ones.
• Grow engineers on the engagement through pairing, timely feedback, and early promotion signals.
• Design the handover from day one with runbooks, access, and a clean transition for the client team.
