Qualifications

• 2–3 years hands-on medical billing and full-cycle revenue cycle management experience.
• Recent psychiatric/behavioral health billing experience preferred.
• Experience with Medicare Part B billing.
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric CPT/ICD-10 codes and payer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support full-cycle psychiatric and behavioral health medical billing, including claims management, payment posting, accounts receivable, and collections.
• Review claims, patient balances, billing records, and outstanding account issues to ensure accuracy and timely resolution.
• Investigate rejected, denied, or underpaid claims and assist with corrections, resubmissions, and appeals.
• Maintain accurate payment records, accounts receivable information, collection notes, and patient account updates.
• Apply ICD-10 and CPT codes, payer guidelines, and behavioral health billing requirements when reviewing and processing billing information.
• Use eCW to navigate patient accounts, review claims and balances, generate statements, and access billing reports.
• Follow procedures for claim corrections, account adjustments, insurance follow-up, and billing documentation.
• Respond to patient billing inquiries and communicate with insurance representatives regarding claims, balances, and payment status.
• Explain patient statements, copays, deductibles, and balances clearly and professionally.
• Follow up on outstanding balances and approved payment arrangements.
• Verify patient identity and handle PHI per privacy requirements.
• Communicate empathetically with patients and escalate complex matters when needed.
• Prepare and review AR, claims, payments, and billing performance reports.
• Extract, organize, and analyze billing information using Excel and reporting tools.
• Identify discrepancies and overdue balances requiring attention.
• Coordinate with practice manager and external billing providers to maintain workflows.
• Participate in billing meetings and apply training updates.
