Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Data API Engineer based in the United Arab Emirates to enhance a PostgreSQL-powered API used by developers globally. You will work on PostgREST, optimizing connectivity, performance, and multi-tenant capabilities while contributing to open-source tooling and observability.

You will collaborate with distributed teams, investigate bottlenecks, resolve incidents, and help deliver a reliable developer experience across platforms and languages.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of professional experience with Haskell.
• Strong C programming skills and ability to work with systems-level code.
• Robust SQL/PostgreSQL knowledge, including PL/pgSQL scripting.
• Experience debugging applications in Linux environments.
• Proven track record contributing to open-source projects.
• Experience providing technical support and clear explanations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and own tasks.
• Interest in open-source tooling and dependable API development.

Responsibilities

• Improve database connectivity: optimize the PostgreSQL driver used by PostgREST.
• Develop Data API capabilities by adding features and fixing bugs for multi-tenant support.
• Enhance reliability and performance by diagnosing issues and improving systems.
• Strengthen observability with better monitoring and diagnostics.
• Handle technical incidents and escalate as needed to reduce recurrence.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to resolve integration challenges.
