Role Context The Registered Pharmacist combines professional medication responsibilities with customer service and retail pharmacy operations. The position protects patient safety through accurate prescription review, appropriate counseling, regulatory compliance, insurance coordination, and controlled inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Review prescriptions for completeness, accuracy, and clinical suitability.
- Confirm prescribed medicines, strengths, doses, quantities, and directions.
- Identify potential drug interactions, contraindications, and duplication.
- Clarify questionable prescriptions with authorized healthcare professionals.
- Compound and dispense medications according to valid prescriptions.
- Label medicines accurately and provide clear usage instructions.
- Explain dosage, administration, storage, precautions, and possible side effects.
- Ask appropriate questions to understand customer needs.
- Provide responsible non-prescription medicine and wellness-product guidance.
- Refer customers to a physician when symptoms require medical assessment.
- Maintain confidentiality of prescriptions and customer health information.
- Comply with Dubai Health Authority and Ministry of Health requirements.
- Follow applicable regulations for preparing, labeling, storing, and delivering medicines.
- Maintain pharmacy records required by regulators and company procedures.
- Coordinate insurance approvals and claim processing.
- Liaise with insurance providers to resolve billing or coverage concerns.
- Order medicines, medical products, and pharmaceutical supplies.
- Receive and store stock according to product requirements.
- Monitor inventory quantities and replenish essential items.
- Track expiry dates and take timely action on short-dated products.
- Maintain appropriate storage temperatures and handling conditions.
- Assist with pharmacy merchandising and product presentation.
- Support assigned sales targets through ethical recommendations.
- Apply suitable upselling and cross-selling techniques across Super Care categories.
- Complete daily operational and administrative activities.
- Work at different locations and shifts when assigned by the Line Manager.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor 's degree in Pharmacy.
- Valid Dubai Health Authority license or Eligibility Letter.
- Between 1 and 2 years of experience as a registered pharmacist in the UAE.
- Sound knowledge of prescription review and medication dispensing.
- Understanding of drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage.
- Familiarity with UAE pharmacy regulations and documentation.
- Experience processing health-insurance approvals and claims.
- Able to manage pharmaceutical stock and expiry controls accurately.
- Strong written and spoken English communication.
- Confident counseling customers about medication use.
- Detail-focused and committed to patient safety.
- Commercially aware while maintaining professional and ethical standards.
- Able to work effectively within a busy retail pharmacy.
- Flexible regarding shifts, weekends, public holidays, and assigned locations.
