Job summary

InterContinental Abu Dhabi is seeking a friendly Recreation Attendant to join our team. You will greet guests, assist with information, and help maintain pool, beach, and recreation areas to ensure a safe, relaxing experience.

You should be attentive to cleanliness and safety, able to work outdoors, and coordinate with Lifeguards and colleagues. Prior guest-facing hospitality experience is preferred, along with good English and flexibility across shifts.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a guest-facing hospitality role.
• Experience in hotels or resort environment preferred.
• Friendly, energetic personality with a proactive attitude.
• Good English communication skills.
• Knowledge of pool and recreation safety procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming guests and assisting them with information about recreation facilities and services.
• Setting up and maintaining pool, beach, and other recreation areas according to hotel standards.
• Maintaining cleanliness, organization, and appearance of sun loungers, towels, and surrounding areas.
• Assisting guests with general inquiries and responding to requests in a friendly manner.
• Supporting opening and closing procedures for recreation facilities and coordinating with other departments as needed.
• Coordinating with Lifeguards, Recreation colleagues, Housekeeping, Engineering, Security and others as required.

A little taste of your day-to-day:

As a Recreation Attendant, you will play an important role in ensuring our guests enjoy a safe, relaxing, and memorable experience across our recreational facilities. Whether welcoming guests, assisting around the pool and beach areas, or maintaining the presentation of our facilities, you will help create an environment where guests can relax and enjoy their time with us.

• Welcoming guests warmly and assisting them with information about our recreation facilities and services.
• Providing towels and other recreational items to guests and ensuring they are collected and replenished as required.
• Setting up and maintaining pool, beach, and other recreation areas according to hotel standards.
• Ensuring sun loungers, umbrellas, towels, and surrounding areas remain clean, organized, and presentable throughout the day.
• Regularly checking recreation areas and promptly addressing any cleanliness, maintenance, or safety concerns.
• Assisting guests with general enquiries and responding to requests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Maintaining good knowledge of recreation facilities, operating hours, activities, hotel services, and relevant guest information.
• Supporting the team in organizing recreational activities and special events when required.
• Monitoring recreation areas and ensuring hotel rules and safety procedures are followed.
• Remaining alert to potential hazards and promptly reporting safety concerns or incidents to the appropriate supervisor.
• Coordinating closely with Lifeguards, Recreation colleagues, Housekeeping, Engineering, Security, and other departments when required.
• Ensuring recreation equipment is handled, stored, and maintained appropriately.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of storage areas, equipment, and workspaces.
• Supporting opening and closing procedures for recreation facilities.
• Following all hotel health, safety, hygiene, and security procedures.
• Maintaining professional grooming and presentation standards at all times.
• Demonstrating IHG values through positive, respectful, and genuine interactions with guests and colleagues.

What we need from you:

• Previous experience as a Recreation Attendant, Pool Attendant, Beach Attendant, or in a similar guest-facing hospitality role.
• Previous experience within a hotel, resort, beach club, or recreation environment would be an advantage.
• A friendly, energetic, and approachable personality.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A genuine passion for guest service and hospitality.
• Strong awareness of cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards.
• A proactive approach with the ability to anticipate guest needs.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• The ability to work outdoors and meet the physical requirements of the role.
• Basic knowledge of recreation and pool safety procedures would be an advantage.
• First Aid or relevant safety certification would be an advantage.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Good working knowledge of English; additional languages would be an advantage.
