Job summary

GeneDx is seeking a Billing Specialist to review and submit invoices for diagnostic lab services and ensure compliance with policy. The role collaborates with billing, reimbursement, Market Access, and Sales teams to resolve complex billing issues.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years in medical claims processing, knowledge of CPT/ICD-10, and proficiency with billing software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of medical claims processing experience in healthcare.
• Strong knowledge of insurance billing, payer requirements, and denial management.
• Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, EOBs, and remittance advice.

Responsibilities

• Review and submit invoices for diagnostic lab services per policy.
• Analyze disputed invoices, identify root causes, and initiate actions.
• Follow up on outstanding balances and monitor aging reports.
• Maintain records of invoice status and client correspondence in the billing system.

• Analyze disputed invoice transactions, identify root causes, and initiate corrective actions
• Proactively follow up on outstanding balances and monitor aging reports
• Maintain accurate records of invoice status and client correspondence in the billing system
• Collaborate with billing, reimbursement, Market Access, and Sales teams to resolve complex issues
• Stay current with client requirements and regulatory changes affecting invoicing
• Generate and analyze invoice performance reports to identify trends and process improvements

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field (preferred)
• 2+ years of experience in medical claims processing, preferably in a diagnostic laboratory or healthcare setting
• Strong knowledge of insurance billing, payer requirements, and denial management
• Familiarity with laboratory coding (CPT, ICD-10), EOBs, and remittance advice
• Proficiency with billing software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
