Job summary

Tanqeeb is seeking a Quality Inspector for steel product inspection in Abu Dhabi. You will conduct inspections of steel products from the RM3 Rolling Mill, ensuring adherence to approved specifications and quality requirements.

You will verify dimensions, weights and surface condition, report surface defects, and coordinate with Production for investigation and rectification of quality issues. Maintaining measuring instruments is also required.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in Quality Control/Inspection within the steel industry.
• Experience in a rolling mill, finishing mill or steel manufacturing plant is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience in inspection of rolled steel products, dimensions and surface quality.

Responsibilities

• Inspect steel products produced in RM3 Rolling Mill according to approved specifications and quality requirements.
• Inspect product dimensions, shape, weight and surface condition.
• Verify finished products against applicable product standards and customer specifications.
• Ensure inspection is carried out at the required stages of production.
• Identify and report surface defects such as cracks, seams, scabs, rolled-in defects, scratches, laps, scale defects, mechanical damage, and dimensional abnormalities.
• Coordinate with Production/Operations for investigation and rectification of quality issues.
• Check dimensions, section size, length, straightness and other applicable parameters.
• Verify product measurements against approved specifications/tolerances.
• Ensure measuring instruments are properly maintained and available for inspection.

Product Inspection

• Inspect product dimensions, shape, weight and surface condition.

2. Surface Quality Inspection

• Identify and report surface defects such as:

  • Cracks

  • Seams

  • Scabs

  • Rolled-in defects

  • Scratches

  • Laps

  • Scale defects

  • Mechanical damage

  • Dimensional abnormalities.

• Coordinate with Production/Operations for investigation and rectification of quality issues.

3. Dimensional Inspection

• Check dimensions, section size, length, straightness and other applicable parameters.

• Verify product measurements against approved specifications/tolerances.

• Ensure measuring instruments are properly maintained and available for inspection.

4. Sampling & Testing

• Collect samples from production/finished products as per inspection plans.

• Coordinate with the laboratory/metallurgy team for required testing.

• Ensure samples are correctly identified and traceable to the relevant heat, batch and production line.

Desired Candidate Profile
