Job summary

Vallourec in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, seeks a Senior Quality Control Inspector to ensure robust inspection, accurate documentation, and proactive HSE compliance, protecting product integrity and customer satisfaction across machining operations.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, applying API/Q1/ISO 9001 standards, and mentoring junior inspectors while supporting calibration and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Technical certificate or Diploma, or equivalent (mechanical/precision engineering preferred).
• Experience may substitute formal education.
• Minimum 5 years of quality inspection experience in machining.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with VAM premium threading inspection.
• Ability to communicate in English at a functional level.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, risk & compliance per local regulations and HOST policies.
• Perform product & process inspection reading drawings and customer specs.
• Record inspection results and prepare documentation (COC, MTR review).
• Manage gauge calibration and measurement control; maintain calibration status.
• Provide technical guidance and support to inspectors; drive root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Production, Technical, Sales and suppliers on quality matters.

Senior Quality Control Inspector is responsible for rigorous inspection, accurate documentation, proper calibration management, and proactive HSE compliance to protect customer satisfaction, product integrity, and operational excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety, Risk & Compliance

• Strict compliance with local regulations and HOST policies, to be considered as minimum requirement.
• Maintain a strong safety mindset, strictly follow all HSE procedures, and work to ensure that all injuries are preventable.
• Demonstrate safe handling of tooling, raw materials, lifting equipment, and machine controls.
• Promote, report and act on all events near-miss, unsafe acts/unsafe conditions and any actual injuries that may occur.
• Ensure product quality by following approved standards, work instructions, and in-process inspection requirements.
• Stop work and elevate immediately if any unsafe condition or quality risk is identified.

Product & Process Inspection

• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Inspect, test, and measure materials, workpieces, and finished products using appropriate gauges and instruments.
• Evaluate conformance to print, specifications, and customer criteria; accept or reject products accordingly.
• Place non-conforming products on hold and ensure proper tagging, segregation, and reporting.
• Prepare and maintain gauges required for production inspection activities.

Documentation & Reporting

• Record inspection results accurately and in a timely manner.
• Perform quality documentation tasks including:
• VAM® gauge booking and management
• Certificate of Conformance (COC) preparation
• Review of Material Test Reports (MTR)
• Maintain high traceability standards and ensure records comply with QMS requirements.

Calibration & Measurement Control

• Support gauge calibration activities and ensure all instruments are maintained within their valid calibration status.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of gauges and measuring devices.

Continuous Improvement & Technical Support

• Recommend improvements in inspection methods, quality control processes, and defect prevention.
• Provide technical guidance, clarification, and leadership to QC Inspectors as required.
• Support root cause analyzis and corrective action implementation.

Additional Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with Production, Technical, Sales, and other internal groups.
• Interact with suppliers/customers for quality matters when required.
• Execute additional reasonable tasks assigned by the QC Lead or Manager.

SKILLS

Technical Skills

• Proficient use of measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, etc.).
• Ability to conduct in-process audits.
• Understanding of machining processes (turning, boring, drilling, milling).
• Basic understanding of calibration processes.
• Ability to work with international standards and customer specifications.
• Material handling (including chrome materials)
• Proficient knowledge of threading technology (API / BTC / EUE)
• Experienced in applying API 5CT, API Q1, ISO 9001, and related industry standards
• Proficient knowledge of premium Threading technology (VAM TOP® / VAM TOP® HC / VAM TOP® HT / NEW VAM / VAM® 21 / VAM® FJL)

• Minimum 5 years of quality inspection experience in machining, turning, milling, drilling, or related operations.
• Experience using precision inspection equipment (micrometers, vernier calipers, thread gauges, dial indicators, etc.).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with VAM® premium threading inspection.
• Ability to communicate in English at a functional level (reading, writing, reporting).
