Job summary

Velora Aviation seeks a GSE Quality Controller to act as the independent gatekeeper for maintenance, repair, overhaul, and modification of ground support equipment. You will perform structured post-repair inspections and functional tests to confirm compliance with technical standards, safety requirements and company procedures before equipment is released back into service.

You will identify non-conformances, drive corrective actions, and maintain auditable records in the CMMS and paper systems,

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in GSE maintenance or aviation ground services inspection.
  • Ability to read and apply technical manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics.
  • Familiar with IATA Ground Operations Manual standards and FAA 14 CFR Part 139 or equivalent QHSE frameworks.
  • Clear, accurate inspection reporting and non-conformance records in English.

Responsibilities

Purpose

Carry out structured post-repair inspections and functional tests to verify that completed work meets required technical standards, manufacturer specifications, safety requirements and company procedures before equipment is accepted and released back into service. Identify, record and drive closure of non-conformances and contribute to continuous improvement of workshop quality and reliability.

Carry out structured post-repair inspections and functional tests to verify that completed work meets required technical standards, manufacturer specifications, safety requirements and company procedures before equipment is accepted and released back into service. Identify, record and drive closure of non-conformances and contribute to continuous improvement of workshop quality and reliability.

Accountabilities
  • Carry out structured post-repair quality inspections on all GSE maintenance, repair, overhaul and modification work before release-to-service, using approved inspection checklists, technical manuals and manufacturer specifications to verify workmanship and compliance.
  • Conduct post-maintenance functional checks and safety tests across GSE mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic and control systems; verify correct operation of engines, gearboxes, steering, brakes, instruments, lifting systems and safety devices to rated specifications.
  • Verify that all repairs, adjustments, component replacements and calibrations comply with manufacturer specifications, approved data, company procedures and applicable safety requirements; confirm shelf-life compliance and tool/equipment serviceability used in repairs.
  • Review job cards, inspection sheets, work orders, defect reports and maintenance records for completeness, accuracy and full traceability; sign off documentation only when all technical and administrative requirements are satisfied.
  • Identify defects, repeat failures, incomplete repairs, substandard workmanship or non-conformities and formally raise corrective actions; communicate findings clearly to supervisors and technicians and confirm that root-caused actions are assigned and tracked.
  • Follow up all raised corrective actions and conduct re-inspections after rectification to confirm that quality concerns have been properly and fully resolved before equipment is approved for return to service.
  • Support investigations into equipment failures, ramp incidents, repeat defects and maintenance quality issues by providing inspection findings, non-conformance data and technical input to help identify contributory factors and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate, auditable records of all quality inspections, non-conformance reports, corrective actions, release approvals and supporting technical documentation in the maintenance management system and paper records as required.
  • Conduct periodic walkthrough assessments of workshop areas, tool stores and work-in-progress to verify adherence to safety standards, housekeeping, Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention and correct use of tools and equipment; report observations and improvement opportunities to the Maintenance Officer.
  • Provide structured technical feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor, technicians and planning team on recurring quality issues, workmanship trends and inspection findings; contribute to quality review meetings and support continuous improvement of maintenance practices, reliability and equipment availability.
Education & Experience
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics or a related technical field; a vocational qualification in a relevant trade supported by formal quality inspection training is accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in GSE maintenance, heavy/light equipment maintenance, aviation ground services maintenance support or technical inspection, with demonstrable experience conducting quality checks or inspections on completed repair work.
  • Strong practical knowledge of GSE mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic and control systems sufficient to verify and test repair work independently across multiple equipment types.
  • Good understanding of maintenance quality assurance principles, structured inspection methods (visual, functional, dimensional), defect classification, non-conformance reporting, root-cause support and corrective action follow-up.
  • Ability to read and apply technical manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, inspection checklists, torque specifications and maintenance records; familiar with International Air Transport Association (IATA) Ground Operations Manual standards and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulation 14 CFR Part 139, or equivalent QHSE frameworks.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, ability to clearly articulate inspection findings and non-conformances to technicians and supervisors with tact and authority; strong analytical and problem-solving ability with good attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, ability to produce clear, accurate inspection reports and non-conformance records.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and the ability to use a maintenance management system or Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) platform (e.g. Maximo or equivalent) for work-order review, record-keeping and reporting.
