Job summary

A leading construction firm in Dubai is seeking a Project Secretary to provide contract-related support and ensure timely project completion. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, at least 10 years of relevant experience, and strong skills in contract administration. Key responsibilities include managing contracts, supporting project developments, and maintaining relationships with subcontractors and suppliers. Position requires native English proficiency and experience in the UAE.

Qualifications

  • High expertise in preparing and defending claims & variations.
  • Fair knowledge of applicable local laws and industry insurance policies.

Job description

Our client, a large construction company, is currently looking for a Project Secretary based in their Dubai office.

Responsibilities
  • Support projects with routine contract and commercial-related support to achieve timely completion with minimal risks.
  • Contribute to development and implementation of contract management plans by monitoring performance and addressing non-performance of relevant parties to achieve required contract outcomes.
  • Administer contracts in liaison with the line manager and update contract details to maintain integrity of contract information.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to identify and minimize risk and maximize contract value.
  • Proactively identify and manage contract risks to meet organisational obligations and achieve planned contract outcomes.
  • Handle contracts, contract administration, dispute handling (arbitration and litigation), project planning and scheduling, etc.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (minimum).
  • High knowledge and administration of general contract forms, especially FIDIC forms issued 1987, 1999 and 2017 (GREEN, RED, YELLOW).
  • High expertise in establishing and administering subcontracts.
  • High expertise in preparing and defending claims & variations.
  • Fair knowledge of applicable local laws and industry insurance policies.
  • Minimum 10 years related experience, including at least 5 years in contract review, contract administration, and claims & variation management.
  • Industrial knowledge, analytical skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, excellent interpersonal skills (communication, negotiation, listening, positive attitude, conversation management, teamwork, leadership, networking, persuasion, motivation).
  • Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Fair knowledge of planning software.
  • Additional qualifications: fair knowledge of piling, shoring, marine works specifications and methodologies; basic knowledge of AutoCAD; bank guarantees management.
  • Native English speaker currently in the UAE.
