Job summary

Royal Infrastructure-Azizi Developments is seeking a Project Engineer – Piling & Shoring to lead day-to-day engineering, site execution and coordination of piling, shoring and foundation works in Dubai. You will ensure safety, quality and alignment with drawings, specs, method statements and HSE standards.

The role requires strong hands-on experience in piling and shoring, 8–10 years on UAE/GCC projects, and ability to coordinate with contractors, consultants and clients for major developments.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in civil/geotechnical engineering or related field.
• 8–10 years of hands-on piling/shoring experience in civil construction.
• UAE/GCC exposure on major high-rise or infrastructure projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Piling and shoring execution: supervise daily site activities and coordinate bore piles, CFA, driven piles and shoring systems.
• Engineering & technical coordination: review drawings, specs, reports; resolve constructability issues.
• Site planning & execution: prepare work plans, coordinate manpower and equipment, monitor progress.
• QA/QC: ensure compliance with ITPs, method statements, drawings and project specs.
• HSE: conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings and uphold safety around piling/shoring activities.
• Stakeholder coordination: liaise with PM, construction managers, QA/QC, HSE, consultants and clients.
• Materials & equipment: manage reinforcement, concrete, casings and piling equipment availability.
• Progress & reporting: compile daily/weekly/monthly progress, logs and inspections.
• Commercial & cost awareness: monitor productivity, variations, wastage, and costs.

Job Profile

Royal Infrastructure-Azizi Developments is an Azizi group infrastructure/construction entity supporting the delivery of large-scale development projects in Dubai. The company forms part of Azizi's vertically integrated construction ecosystem, working alongside Gardinia Contracting and other specialist group companies. Its activities are relevant to civil, infrastructure, site development and construction operations.

The Project Engineer – Piling & Shoring will be responsible for the day-to-day engineering, coordination and site execution of piling, shoring and associated foundation/enabling works. The role will ensure that works are executed safely, efficiently, within approved programme requirements and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, quality standards and HSE requirements.

The position requires strong hands-on experience in piling, shoring, deep foundations, excavation support and ground-related works, together with the ability to coordinate site teams, subcontractors, consultants

Job Responsibilities:

1. Piling & Shoring Execution

• Supervise and manage daily site activities related to piling, shoring and foundation works.
• Coordinate execution of bored piles, CFA piles, driven piles and other deep foundation systems.
• Supervise shoring systems including secant piles, contiguous piles, sheet piles, soldier piles and other excavation-support systems, as applicable.
• Monitor pile installation, reinforcement cage placement, concreting and associated activities.
• Coordinate pile testing, integrity testing, load testing and related inspection activities.
• Monitor excavation, dewatering and temporary works associated with piling and shoring.

2. Engineering & Technical Coordination

• Review approved construction drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports and method statements.
• Ensure site execution is in accordance with approved engineering requirements.
• Identify technical issues, discrepancies and constructability concerns and coordinate resolutions with the Project Manager, consultant and design team.
• Review shop drawings, temporary works proposals and technical submissions.
• Coordinate RFIs, technical queries, inspections and approvals.

3. Site Planning & Execution

• Prepare daily and weekly work plans for piling and shoring activities.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials and subcontractors to achieve planned production targets.
• Monitor site productivity and ensure efficient utilization of piling rigs, cranes and associated equipment.
• Coordinate mobilization, setting out and sequencing of piling and shoring works.
• Monitor progress against the approved project programme and highlight delays or constraints.

4. QA/QC

• Ensure piling and shoring activities comply with approved ITPs, method statements, drawings and project specifications.
• Coordinate inspections with QA/QC engineers and consultants.
• Ensure proper documentation of pile records, concrete records, testing and inspection reports.
• Monitor workmanship and rectify non-conformances promptly.
• Support preparation and closure of NCRs, observations and inspection comments.

5. HSE

• Ensure all piling, excavation, lifting and shoring activities are executed in accordance with project HSE requirements.
• Conduct/participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments and daily safety briefings.
• Ensure safe operation of piling rigs, cranes and heavy equipment.
• Monitor excavation and shoring safety, working platforms and access arrangements.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents and potential project risks.

6. Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate closely with:
• Project Manager
• Operations Manager – Piling
• Construction Manager
• QA/QC team
• HSE team
• Survey team
• Consultants
• Clients
• Piling/shoring subcontractors
• Equipment suppliers
• Material suppliers
• Attend site coordination and technical meetings.
• Follow up on consultant/client inspections and approvals.

7. Materials & Equipment

• Coordinate availability of reinforcement, concrete, casing, drilling fluids and other piling materials.
• Monitor equipment availability and productivity.
• Coordinate piling rigs, cranes, excavators, pumps and supporting equipment.
• Identify equipment breakdowns or productivity issues and coordinate corrective action.

8. Progress & Reporting

• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Maintain records of:
• Number of piles completed
• Pile depths
• Concrete quantities
• Reinforcement quantities
• Rig utilisation
• Production rates
• Testing status
• Shoring progress
• Report delays, technical issues, material shortages and resource requirements to management.

9. Commercial & Cost Awareness

• Monitor productivity and resource utilisation.
• Support measurement and verification of subcontractor works.
• Assist with variation identification and documentation.
• Monitor material wastage and equipment utilization.
• Support the Project Manager in maintaining project cost and productivity targets.

Job Requirements:

Education

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or Geotechnical/Civil-related Engineering.
• Professional engineering certification will be an advantage.

Experience

• 8-10 years of relevant experience in civil construction, piling, shoring or foundation works.
• Strong hands-on experience specifically in piling and shoring projects.
• UAE/GCC experience in major building, high-rise, infrastructure or large-scale development projects is preferred.
