Role Context

The Principal Electrical Designer is responsible for managing high-level electrical design deliverables from conceptual layouts through FEED, studies, and detailed engineering phases. This role ensures technical quality, clash-free 3D model integration, project compliance, and successful coordination between engineering disciplines, fabrication teams, and project management across major EPC projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop conceptual, FEED, studies, and detailed electrical design drawings with high technical quality and professional presentation
• Develop 3D electrical models and ensure clash-free coordination with all other engineering disciplines
• Deliver electrical design outputs according to project specifications, MDR standards, and Level 2 and Level 3 project procedures
• Prepare and review one-line diagrams, schematics, interconnection and wiring diagrams, and block diagrams
• Develop area classification drawings, conduit and cable schedules, and power layout drawings
• Prepare grounding, earthing, lighting layout drawings, cable tray drawings, and electrical building drawings
• Prepare electrical support drawings, drawing indexes, lighting calculations, and cable sizing calculations
• Review and approve bills of material and perform material take-offs for cables, lighting fixtures, trays, glands, termination kits, and MCTs
• Maintain discipline master drawing files, project job books, deliverable registers, and drawing archiving systems
• Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and other disciplines to ensure timely input and design completion
• Review drawings from other disciplines and incorporate required technical inputs into electrical deliverables
• Perform single-discipline checks and inter-discipline checks and support design verification activities
• Support fabrication and offshore teams in resolving construction difficulties, clashes, and commissioning issues
• Participate in audits, design reviews, KPI improvement initiatives, and lessons learned documentation
• Guide junior designers and provide mentoring, technical leadership, and training support

Ideal Profile

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline
• Strong experience in electrical design within oil and gas, EPC, or industrial project environments
• Proven expertise in FEED, detailed engineering, and offshore electrical design coordination
• Strong knowledge of one-line diagrams, schematics, cable layouts, area classification, and power distribution systems
• Experience with 3D modeling tools and multidisciplinary clash detection processes
• Strong understanding of design codes, standards, and electrical safety compliance requirements
• Ability to lead design teams and coordinate with project stakeholders effectively
• Flexible for travel to fabrication yards and offshore locations when required
