Key Responsibilities
  • Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed electrical engineering design work in accordance with project design basis, specifications, codes, standards, and approved procedures.
  • Prepare, review, and approve electrical calculations, design analyses, technical reports, procedures, philosophies, specifications, and discipline deliverables.
  • Apply advanced electrical engineering knowledge to resolve complex problems, nonstandard situations, and project execution challenges.
  • Lead small or medium electrical engineering teams when acting as Lead Engineer, ensuring assigned work is completed within schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Plan and direct discipline execution across scope, deliverables, schedules, manhour budgets, resource requirements, and project procedures.
  • Ensure discipline interfaces, responsibilities, deliverables, and review requirements are clearly defined and controlled.
  • Represent the electrical discipline in meetings with project teams, customer discipline leads, certifying authorities, auditors, third parties, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Review project scope, specifications, schedules, contractual requirements, and inter-discipline inputs to identify concerns early.
  • Raise change notifications and support variation orders with required documentation, technical estimates, and impact assessments.
  • Interface with all engineering disciplines to support clash-free designs, coordinated deliverables, and functional integrity.
  • Coordinate with planning, fabrication, marine, project management, safety, document control, cost control, procurement, quality, certification, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
  • Prepare bid proposal inputs, technical query reviews, execution statements, manhour estimates, software requirements, and project-specific engineering support.
  • Raise technical queries to clarify missing information, confirm work scope, and maintain McDermott procedures, specifications, standards, practices, and operational requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and approve electrical design basis documents, engineering philosophies, technical specifications, datasheets, and bulk material requirements.
  • Participate in finalizing deliverable lists and ensure electrical deliverables meet project specifications and functional requirements.
  • Review project schedules and fabrication schedules against construction sequence, engineering scope, milestones, and vendor data requirements.
  • Attend project kickoff meetings, review meetings, vendor meetings, engineering meetings, offshore site surveys, audits, HAZOP studies, SIL studies, and 3D model reviews when required.
  • Provide technical direction and review support for designers producing electrical engineering drawings and related deliverables.
  • Provide electrical design inputs to other disciplines so their deliverables can progress accurately and on schedule.
  • Support procurement activities by preparing and reviewing requisitions, technical quotation evaluations, technical queries, bid tabulations, recommendations, purchase requisitions, and vendor document expediting requirements.
  • Review vendor and subcontractor submittals for compliance with project specifications and provide clear technical comments.
  • Assist in updating weight reports based on approved vendor information.
  • Review and approve design verification through single-discipline checks and inter-discipline checks.
  • Provide technical support for fabrication queries, including defect identification, rectification requirements, installation concerns, and field-related electrical issues.
  • Check final subcontractor and vendor data manuals to ensure required documentation has been received, reviewed, and approved.
  • Present technical issues to customers in a timely manner and support resolution in line with project and company requirements.
  • Perform technical quality audit reviews in accordance with MDR Global Procedures when required.
  • Capture lessons learned and enter relevant findings into the MDR Lessons Learned system.
  • Guide less experienced engineers on MDR procedures, discipline standards, worksheets, calculations, software, requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and technical queries.
  • Supervise senior electrical engineers and electrical engineers while coordinating with project lead designers for discipline engineering and design deliverables.
  • Support departmental technical guidelines, standard calculation notes, global procedures, engineering software, and electrical standards development.
  • Identify staff training needs in specific techniques, tools, or proprietary software.
  • Support discipline management with employee performance feedback, manpower planning, forecasts, and applicant interviews.
  • Review and approve material lists, P and IDs, equipment lists, specifications, datasheets, and scope details for electrical equipment, systems, and services.
  • Prepare, review, and approve electrical system studies, electrical calculations, one-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, interconnection drawings, and troubleshooting drawings.
  • Prepare and review electrical equipment building layouts, hazardous area classification drawings, instrument and fire and gas detector layouts, and lighting layouts.
  • Prepare, review, and approve lighting calculations, illumination studies, electrical load lists, cable drum schedules, spare parts lists, and preservation reports.
  • Coordinate equipment inspections and Factory Acceptance Testing, including punch list preparation and resolution after skid or material arrival.
  • Review pre-commissioning and commissioning indexes and provide technical assistance during pre-commissioning, start-up, and offshore hook-up activities.
  • Review secondary cable routing and advise fabrication teams on installation locations for small electrical and instrumentation equipment not fully detailed in AFC drawings.
  • Identify special tools, equipment, and requirements for commissioning and hook-up.
  • Prepare and review hook-up installation procedures and coordinate with vendors for installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning support.
  • Coordinate work content split between onshore fabrication and offshore installation.
  • Review and approve key electrical deliverables including electrical studies, C and E charts, ESD logic diagrams, specifications, datasheets, requisitions, TBEs, SLDs, cable routing details, electrical load lists, lighting calculations, and error log reports.
  • Provide electrical and instrumentation input to pre-commissioning activities and offshore hook-up planning.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
  • Master's degree in Engineering is preferred.

  • Practical experience supporting fabrication queries, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, offshore hook-up, and site technical issues.
  • Capable of leading discipline teams, assigning work, reviewing deliverables, monitoring productivity, and managing engineering priorities under demanding schedules.
  • Strong project coordination skills with the ability to manage interfaces across engineering, fabrication, marine, safety, procurement, quality, planning, and project management teams.
  • Preferably a Registered Professional Engineer or member of a recognized professional engineering society.
