Job summary

Position Overview:

The Practice Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of designated clinical practice areas within KCH Healthcare Dubai. The role holder ensures the efficient, effective and safe delivery of outpatient department services in accordance with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) regulations, Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, and KCH organizational policies.

The Practice Manager acts as the operational bridge between clinical teams, translating strategic goals into tangible service improvements. The role requires a highly organized, patient-focused leader who can manage multi-professional teams, optimize resource utilization, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive excellence in patient experience across all areas of accountability.

Key Accountabilities:
Operational Management
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operational activities of assigned clinical practice areas, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with agreed standards.
  • Monitor patient flow, appointment scheduling, waiting times and clinic utilization; implement improvements to optimize service delivery and patient throughput.
People Management & Workforce
  • Provide visible, effective line management to administrative and operational staff; foster a positive, inclusive and high-performance team culture.
  • Oversee workforce planning, rostering, annual leave management and deployment to ensure adequate staffing levels and skill mix at all times.
Patient Experience & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a primary point of escalation for complex patient concerns and complaints, ensuring timely resolution and a consistently compassionate approach to patient and family experience.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with medical consultants, nursing teams, allied health professionals, and support services to facilitate seamless patient pathways.
Strategic Development
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the KCH operational strategy, service line expansion plans and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Support the commissioning and opening of new KCH practice sites or satellite clinics as required, including project planning, stakeholder engagement and operational readiness.
JCIA-Aligned Safety, Quality, Governance and Professional Standards
  • Support sustainability and Global Health Impact (GHI) goals by practicing environmentally responsible care, reducing waste, following proper disposal and segregation processes, using resources efficiently, participating in related training, and reporting opportunities for improvement.
  • Follow all patient safety, quality, infection control and risk-management procedures; report safety events and near misses; participate in workplace violence-prevention training; and escalate concerns using approved communication tools such as Situation–Background–Assessment–Recommendation (SBAR).
Other Key Accountabilities in Conjunction with the Clinical Director and Lead Nurse
Clinical Governance & Quality
  • Champion a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement across all practice areas; actively participate in clinical governance committees and quality improvement programmes.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) relating to patient safety, clinical quality, patient experience and operational efficiency; develop action plans to address areas of underperformance.
  • Manage the operational budget for assigned practice areas; monitor expenditure against budget, identify variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities for cost efficiency and revenue optimization without compromising quality or safety; contribute to annual business planning processes.
Education & Qualification, Experience, Training & Knowledge:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related clinical or management discipline; Master’s degree desirable (full time course from recognized University )
  • Relevant postgraduate management qualification (e.g. PgCert/PgDip in Healthcare Leadership or Management) is advantageous.
Experience
  • A minimum of five years’ progressive experience in healthcare operations, nursing or practice management within an acute or primary care setting, ideally within the UAE or a comparable international healthcare environment.
Training, Knowledge & Skills
  • Sound knowledge of UAE healthcare regulatory frameworks, including DHA licensing, patient rights legislation and clinical governance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of JCI accreditation standards and their application in a private hospital or outpatient setting.
  • Competence in budget management, financial reporting and resource planning.
