Job summary

Wood is seeking an experienced PMC Lead Materials Engineer to oversee materials engineering and corrosion control for ADNOC projects. You will ensure sound material selection, satisfy international codes, and supervise EPC contractor deliverables to protect asset integrity and lifecycle performance.

The role requires a strong background in metallurgy, corrosion control, and relationship management with stakeholders, with leadership across FEED to commissioning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years oil and gas experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with relevant international codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in planning, organizing and coordinating to develop solutions to complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for materials and corrosion engineering across all project phases (FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning).
  • Establish and ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications, and international codes (e.g., ASME, ASTM, NACE).
  • Act as the technical authority for material selection, corrosion management, and metallurgy-related decisions.
  • Review and approve EPC contractor deliverables including material selection diagrams (MSDs), corrosion studies, specifications, and datasheets.
  • Ensure appropriate material selection for process conditions including sour service, high temperature, and corrosive environments.
  • Validate corrosion allowances, coating systems, cathodic protection designs, and chemical treatment programs.
  • Coordinate closely with process, piping, mechanical, and inspection teams to ensure integrated engineering solutions.
  • Interface with ADNOC stakeholders, licensors, and third-party consultants on materials-related matters.
  • Support procurement and vendor evaluation processes from a materials engineering perspective.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to material degradation, corrosion, and failure mechanisms.
  • Ensure implementation of corrosion management strategies including monitoring, inspection, and maintenance philosophies.
  • Contribute to HAZOP, HAZID, and other safety and risk assessments with a focus on materials integrity.
  • Ensure adherence to project quality requirements and material traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review inspection and test plans (ITPs), material certificates, and vendor documentation.
  • Support site activities including material inspection, failure investigations, and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor EPC contractor performance related to materials engineering and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Provide input to project planning, cost control, and progress reporting.
  • Support construction and commissioning teams to ensure correct material installation and preservation practices.

Job Objective

To lead and manage all materials engineering and corrosion control activities on behalf of the Project Management Consultant (PMC) for ADNOC projects, ensuring that material selection, specifications, and corrosion mitigation strategies are technically sound, cost‑effective, and compliant with ADNOC standards and international codes. The role is responsible for overseeing EPC contractor deliverables, safeguarding asset integrity, minimizing lifecycle risks, and ensuring successful project execution within scope, schedule, and budget.
