Job summary

Wood is seeking an experienced PMC Lead HVAC Engineer to lead and coordinate engineering teams for the planning, execution, and completion of complex HVAC projects in Abu Dhabi, UAE, focusing on ADNOC standards and international codes. The role demands delivering safe, reliable, and energy-efficient HVAC solutions across project phases.

The candidate will mentor HVAC engineers, interface with ADNOC PMC teams, and ensure timely deliverables, quality, and compliance with HSE policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 15 years of HVAC engineering experience with at least 5 years in a lead role.
• Experience in mega ADNOC Oil processing EPC/EPCm projects.
• Experience with HAP/Carrier, AutoCAD, Revit software.
• Familiar with ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, DW144 standards.
• Familiar with ADNOC specifications and procedures.
• Familiar with explosion-proof HVAC systems and redundancy design.

Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC design for control rooms, substations, telecom shelters, and buildings.
• Oversee hazardous area ventilation, pressurization and smoke management.
• Perform heat load calculations using HAP/Carrier or equivalent.
• Size and select equipment: chillers, AHUs, FCUs, exhausts.
• Develop HVAC layouts, ducting drawings and schematics.
• Review MR and TBE, issue bid evaluations.

Job Objective

Lead the design, engineering, and execution of HVAC systems for oil & gas facilities, ensuring compliance with ADNOC standards, international codes, and project specifications. The role is responsible for delivering safe, reliable, and energy-efficient HVAC solutions across all project phases.

Responsibilities

Lead HVAC system design for:

• Control rooms, substations, telecom shelters, and buildings
• Hazardous area ventilation systems
• Pressurization and smoke management systems

Perform:

• Heat load calculations (HAP/Carrier software or equivalent)
• Equipment sizing and selection (chillers, AHUs, FCUs, exhaust systems)

Develop and review:

• HVAC layouts, ducting drawings, and schematics
• Material requisitions (MR), technical bid evaluations (TBE)

Ensure compliance with:

• ADNOC engineering standards
• International codes (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ISO)
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil)
• Review vendor documents and approve HVAC equipment submittals
• Support procurement and ensure timely material delivery

Provide technical support during:

• Installation
• Testing & commissioning
• Resolve site technical issues and ensure design integrity

Ensure HVAC systems meet:

• Hazardous area classification requirements
• Fire & gas system integration
• Promote HSE policies aligned with ADNOC guidelines

Participate in:

• HAZOP / HAZID studies
• Design reviews and safety audits
• Lead and mentor HVAC engineers and designers
• Interface with client representatives (ADNOC PMC team)
• Manage engineering deliverables, schedules, and manpower
• Ensure quality assurance and control of HVAC deliverables
• Oversee HVAC system pre-commissioning and commissioning
• Validate performance testing (TAB – Testing, Adjusting & Balancing)

Ensure documentation:

• As-built drawings
• O&M manuals
• Commissioning reports
