Role Description

This full-time, on-site PLC Engineer role is based in the United Arab Emirates and focuses on automation and control systems for water and wastewater treatment equipment. The PLC Engineer will design, program, test, and commission PLC-based control systems, including HMI and SCADA interfaces, to ensure reliable and efficient plant operation. Daily responsibilities include reviewing engineering drawings, selecting control hardware, developing control logic, configuring communication networks, and troubleshooting automation issues during installation and operation. The role involves collaborating with design, production, and service teams, preparing technical documentation, supporting site start-ups, and providing training and guidance to operations and maintenance staff. The PLC Engineer will also help optimize existing systems, ensure compliance with industry standards, and contribute to continuous improvement of automation solutions.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong PLC programming and integration skills, including experience with leading PLC platforms and HMI/SCADA development.
• Candidates should possess skills in industrial automation and control systems, such as instrumentation, control panel design, and field device configuration.
• Candidates should possess competencies in electrical and control engineering fundamentals, including reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs.
• Candidates should possess troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for PLCs, communication networks, and process control issues in industrial environments.
• Candidates should possess experience or familiarity with water and wastewater treatment processes, related equipment, and industry safety standards.
• Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and support clients on-site.
• Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Control Engineering (or equivalent) are preferred.
• Experience in GCC industrial projects, a valid UAE or GCC driving license, and knowledge of applicable codes and standards are considered beneficial.
