Job summary

Ghobash Group is seeking a senior automation engineer to lead project execution, coordinate teams, and drive design from concept through field installation in Abu Dhabi. You will supervise designers, field engineers, and contractors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and client specifications.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Instrumentation or Mechatronics and a minimum of 10 years in industrial automation, with strong PLC, HMI, and SCADA knowledge.

• Experience with Onshore/Offshore oil & gas or power & utility sectors is preferred.

Job description

Overall responsibilities:

• Work on project execution coordination planning and supervise team of designer automation programmers I&C site engineers supervisors foremen technicians and other crews and assign the project tasks.
• Designing and implementation process instrumentation and control systems from initial conception through field installation.
• Coordinate with clients / customers for site related matters and resolve the project ongoing issues.
• Support during manufacturing and development process to bring the design to completion.
• Contribute to project estimation & sales effort assist in submission of new technical proposals.

Day to day responsibilities:

• Plan manage supervise and execute project related tasks as assigned by Project Manager / HOD and oversee projects ongoing execution activities; and
• Review and read instrumentation drawings logic diagrams and tables PLC and DCS configuration. Work with designers / draftsman on detail design get detail design approval from client / customers; and
• Review design and implementation process instrumentation and control systems from initial conception through field installation and apply standards and codes to design and specifications.
• Generate design documentation as per approved vendor document register list.
• Provide final checking and approval of all design deliverables associated with instrumentation.
• Coordinate with client / customers and internal teams and resolve ongoing project issues and provide technical assistance support and troubleshooting.
• Contributing to customer satisfaction by planning and executing service work according to customer order and expectation ensuring customer retention by delivering superior customer experiences and effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations
• Performing complex field service tasks identifying technical problems and making analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform coordinating and resolving high level technical issues/questions and providing advice and recommendations both internally and to customers within own area of expertise; and
• Supervise and manage subcontractors (both design and field construction) and coordinate / interface to complete project work; and
• Liaise with other departments withing the organization to ensure effective and progressive project management; and liaise with OEMs distributors and clients.
• Work closely with manufacturing team during development process to bring the design to completion this effort requires multi-interfaces with different stakeholders and get the various drawings datasheets and documents approved; and
• Utilizing standard processes tools and techniques ensuring that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements supporting the Team Leaders / HOD in overall project risk and opportunity assessments and implementation of resulting actions; and
• Identifying opportunities for repeating and new businesses reviewing all project documents for conformity safety and quality assurance supporting Team Leaders / HOD in issuing claims (new scope of work cost impact time impact risk quantifications etc.); and
• Contribute to project estimation and sales effort assist in submission of new technical proposals.
• Train junior Engineers and provide mentoring and coaching and assign / delegated tasks.

Qualifications :

• Minimum Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Electrical Instrumentation or Mechatronics) with sufficient experience (10 Years) in the industrial automation industry. Affinity and familiar with Engineering Procurement and Contracting aspects in the business both onshore and offshore power & utility sector.

Experience Requirements:

• Experience level: 10years and 05 years or more experience UAE or Middle East
• Experience with Onshore and/or Offshore Oil and Gas customers like with ADNOC and/or Power & Water sector experience.
• Proven experience in industrial automation engineering and system integration
• Excellent knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) code.
• Has a working knowledge of industry standards and regulations
• Preferred experience as I&C / Site Engineer in similar business or industry
• HSE compliance and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams

Skills & Professional Requirements:

• Knowledge of configuration and programming automation and controls systems involving DCS HMI or SCADA systems.
• Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols
• Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application.
