Job summary

ALSUWEIDI Engineering Consultants in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Planning & Project Control Engineer to lead baseline reviews, monitor progress, and prepare client reports. The role requires a Bachelor in Engineering and 8+ years in planning, including 3+ years in the UAE and 2+ years in UAE consultancy.

Primavera P6, MS Project and Excel are essential. You will coordinate with site teams, evaluate EOTs, perform delay analyses and support commercial aspects like valuation and invoicing while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
• Advanced certifications such as PMP or PSP are an advantage.
• Minimum 8 years total planning/project control experience.
• At least 3 years in the UAE and 2 years in UAE-based consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Review baseline, monitoring, recovery, and revised programs (Primavera P6 or similar).
• Review planning package including WBS, manpower histogram, cash flow, etc.
• Monitor site progress and verify compliance with approved programme.
• Coordinate with site supervision engineers and Resident Engineer on progress updates.
• Evaluate EOT claims and provide technical recommendations.
• Identify critical path activities and highlight risks to milestones.
• Attend project meetings and provide scheduling input.
• Prepare weekly/monthly client progress reports and close-out documents.
• Support Project Manager in contractual and time-related supervision.
• Ensure alignment of planning deliverables with contract scope and specs.
• Liaise with cost engineer to align progress with valuation and invoicing.
• Participate in delay analysis and forensic planning if needed.

Job description

• Review and analyze the contractor’s baseline, monitoring, recovery, and revised programs (Primavera P6 or similar).
• Review Contractor’s submitted Planning Package including the Construction Methodology, detailed Baseline Program, the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), the manpower histogram, the plant histogram, the cash flow diagram, etc.
• Monitor site progress and verify compliance with approved construction Programme.
• Coordinate with site supervision engineers and Resident Engineer to validate progress updates.
• Evaluate Extension of Time (EOT) claims and provide technical recommendations.
• Identify critical path activities and highlight risks or delays to project milestones.
• Attend project meetings, including progress and coordination meetings, and provide input on scheduling matters.
• Review and verify contractor’s weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports for client submission.
• Support the Project Manager/Resident Engineer in contractual and time-related aspects of supervision.
• Ensure alignment of planning deliverables with project scope, specifications, and contractual requirements.
• Liaise with cost engineer/SQ to align progress with valuation and invoicing.
• Participate in delay analysis and forensic planning if needed.
• Plan, organize and coordinate all planning activities and secure full control and appropriate coordination in this aspect.
• Prepare and develop the master schedule for design and/or construction phases of the project at tendering stage including the estimate of construction periods of tendered projects.
• Follow up and monitor the project budget during the design and construction stages.
• Check and approve the planning techniques, logic and sequence of activities proposed by the Contractor’s Planning Engineer for executing the project.
• Prepare regular reports to the Client showing the project’s status in coordination with the Contractor’s Planning Engineer and the Project Manager.
• Liaise with the Contractor throughout the construction period and make adjustments and/or revisions to the Baseline Program as may be necessary and valid.
• Maintain Client’s full satisfaction in respect of project planning requirements and progress monitoring services.
• Review and monitor Contractor's follow up logs for engineering works and submittals including shop drawings, materials, method statements, in additions to the order and delivery of long lead items.
• Participate in the preparation, completion and review of the project close-out report including as-built project Programme.
• Support design team in design planning tasks as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• Advanced certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional), or equivalent are considered an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of 8 years of total relevant experience in planning and project control.
• At least 3 years of work experience within the UAE.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a UAE-based consultancy firm.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in Primavera P6 is mandatory.
• Working knowledge of MS Project, Microsoft Excel, and project delay analysis tools.
• Familiarity with cost tracking, WBS structuring, and progress monitoring techniques.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with project teams, contractors, and clients.
