Job summary

Epic Piping seeks a Checker to join our quality-focused team. You’ll review pipe spool drawings against client drawings, scope, and specifications to ensure accuracy and manufacturability, marking errors and rechecking drafter corrections before shop fabrication.

Ideal candidates hold a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 years in pipe fabrication or construction, and are familiar with ASTM, ASME, PFI codes, and CAD tools such as AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3 years of experience in pipe fabrication or construction.
• Proficiency with Outlook, Excel and Word; AutoCAD is a plus.
• Familiarity with codes and standards (ASTM, ASME, PFI), metallurgies, NDE methods, heat treatments, paint and welding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Check pipe spool drawings used for fabrication against client drawings, scope and specifications for accuracy, manufacturability, mark-up errors and re-check corrections.
• Ensure compliance with department standards, procedures and guidelines.
• Understand shop methods used in fabrication of pipe spools.

What You’ll Do

• Be familiar with client project scope and specifications.
• Check pipe spool drawings used for fabrication by shop against client drawings, scope, and specifications for accuracy and manufacturability, mark-up errors, and re-check corrections made by drafter before being released to shop for fabrication.
• Familiar with and utilize department standards, procedures, and guidelines.
• Understand shop methods used in the fabrication of pipe spools.

What You’ll Need

• Education: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience: 3 years of experience in Pipe fabrication or Construction
• Computer Skills: Outlook, Excel, and Word. AutoCAD is preferred.
• Other Requirements: Familiarity with codes and standards of ASTM, ASME, and PFI, familiarity with various metallurgies, and a basic understanding of non-destructive examination methods, heat treatments, paint, and welding procedures.
